Errol.

I'd avoid Elon at the moment.

swimmingviolinist · 08/08/2024 15:18

probably Aaron wouldn’t go well

Babyboyno2 · 08/08/2024 15:19

No wouldn’t say so

Well what ‘type’ of name do you want or like? What names have you veto-d?

Babyboyno2 · 08/08/2024 15:22

Open to anything atm, like Irish boy names but not a must, nothing really unusual

Oisin [Ush een]

Cillian / Killian latter is probably easier for English as it indicates a hard sound
Conor. Old but a classic
Oscar
Tiernan
Lorcan
Ronan
Dara [irish spelling is Daire]

Liv999 · 08/08/2024 16:05

Oisín is lovely and goes well with Eirinn I think, also

Cathal
Cormac
Iarla
Rían
Sean
Senan
Aodhan
Fionn

Babyboyno2 · 08/08/2024 16:13

@TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams @Liv999 thank yous, Oisin is very nice, a few nice ones out of the choices
Cormac
Aodhan
Oscar
love Rían but unfortunately it’s got so popular but would be top 3 if I can get over how many boys will be called it

Are you in Ireland? That gives you more options as people will be able to pronounce it without butchering it but I assumed you were not given your request for nothing too out there.

Aedh is unusual also Aodh or just Aed but phonetically close to Eirinn .

I have a soft spot for Caolan too but I don't think it travels well outside Ireland. People get really confused by all the vowels.
Aed, you can easily just call yourself Ed.

Not Irish at all but Asher or Reuben are two old Hebrew names you might not come across in Ireland too often?

Babyboyno2 · 08/08/2024 17:56

@TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams Yeah well NI lots of Irish names about and a lot more complicated ones. Had caolan on the list just finding it very hard to find one I’m 100% on
have read every list out there and can’t say “yeah thats it” might be a case of waiting to baby is born to see what suits him.

I prefer Rián to Rían (ree-awn, emphasis more on the second syllable).
I really like Caolan aswell!
Séimí is really making a comeback at the moment around me.
Liam is always a strong classic

Martymcfly24 · 08/08/2024 22:22

Why does a name need to match at all? Just pick one you like! The lad will be a person in his own right and one day may live hundreds of miles away from his sister.

Doesn’t need to match, I meant more what names sound good together. Or of a “ similar” style. Asking for opinions on names to get a few ideas. Baby will be named whatever feels right and what he “suits” regardless of “matching” .
