As simple as that ... we are between 2 names and can't pick.

We've ruled out the other names and know it'll be one of these two.

She has 2 middle names selected, both of which are quite long but are family names and dont expect them to be used day to day and a 1 syllable surname.

Lucia - you will get Loo-chee-uh a bit, but either way it’s much nicer than Bethany which is quite lumpy and puddingy (sorry…)

I agree. Even with the 'puddingy' bit.

I love the name Beth, Bethan is my favourite longer version but like Bethany is lovely too. Different from a lot of names that are currently popular too.

JC03745 · 07/08/2024 11:17

I like both, but would also agree about it being pronounced Loo-Chia by some people.

BoleynMemories13 · 07/08/2024 11:19

Tough choice as I love Beth but am not fond of Bethany. I also love Lucia but would automatically pronounce it Lu-chee-ah, so you'll have pronunciation issues. Lu-see-ah is still pretty though.

I voted for Lucia as ultimately, despite pronunciation issues, I still prefer it to the long form Bethany.

Riqwihr · 07/08/2024 11:19

I think you're going to get irritated with most people pronouncing it as Loo-CHEE-a, but I prefer it (with that pronunciation) to Bethany, which I always find kind of mimsy.

MapleTreeValley · 07/08/2024 11:21

Lucia is lovely - I would choose that (and would pronounce it the same way as you). Bethany is nice too, with Beth as a nickname.

Moreteaandchocolate · 07/08/2024 12:04

I like both, but voted for Bethany because of the pronunciation issues with Lucia, and I prefer Beth to Loose as a shortening.

Me too. Lumpen sums it up and it'll be Beff. Lucia is nice but just Lucy is nicer.

KirstenBlest · 07/08/2024 12:56

I think Bethan is lumpy too. Elizabeth is great.

NewName24 · 07/08/2024 13:06

Bethany (though prefer Bethan).
Much nicer when people (as they inevitably will) shorten names to one syllable.
Even before you get the different ways of pronouncing Lucia.

shoopshoopdedoo · 07/08/2024 14:16

I voted for Bethany because I personally don’t like Lucia at all (any of the multiple pronunciations!) - I really like both Beth and Lucy though.
