I like Emlyn, Emry, Gregg, Scott, Daniel, Joel (also Arlo but it's getting too common)

Both like (but not love!)- Leo, Luke, Harley

He likes Teddy, Remy/i, Fox

I'd love something unusual and short to go with our daughter Rae. Girls names are so much easier!

I see Harley as a girls name, and out of your lists I like Luke, Greg and Scott

Heavenlyhoumous · 29/07/2024 09:47

My favourites from your list are Gregg, Joel and Teddy. Not so keen on Fox with Rae but all lovely. They, nn Teddy, instead of Leo?

JimNast · 29/07/2024 09:49

Emry looks like a typo for Emery, which is a bit too Emma-y.
Emlyn seems dated and sounds a bit like Emmeline.
Greg(or/ory) is better than Gregg, which makes me think of pies and the bloke off the telly.
Scott - is it 1970?
Leo and Luke both OK but popular
Harley - downmarket
Teddy - ok but popular
Remy - not with Rae. Makes me think of Remedy
Fox - best from list but sounds too much like Fux. Wolf better.

Sleepnplay · 29/07/2024 09:52

I love Luke, that would be my top pick from your lists. I also like Scott, Daniel, Joel and Remy (though prob wouldn't pick Remy with Rae)

Violet17 · 29/07/2024 09:53

My favourites on your list are
Luke
Daniel
Joel
Scott

My favourite is Luke! It’s quite underused for such a simple, handsome classic! Daniel, Joel and Scott are also great, underused classics - simple and handsome.

I love Leo and Teddy (as short for Edward) too, but they’re very popular.

Ideas -

Leon - I prefer this to Leo and it’s much less commonly used.
Nathan (love this - an underused, handsome classic, like Luke)
Rory
Kai (goes nicely with Rae)
Levi
Sean
Corey
Ethan
Liam
Josh
Asher (Rae and Ash sounds cool)
Rex
Ivan / Ivo
Milo

I like Leo and Fox..
Love Luke, Daniel is alright.

Likemyjealouseel · 29/07/2024 10:49

Were you going for Emrys? Great name if so.
How about:
Lucas
Jonah

BoleynMemories13 · 29/07/2024 11:12

I think you both need to let go of the ones you like but the other doesn't. We could comment all day on which ones we all like from your list and his list but, at the end of the day, it's pointless if one of you isn't keen.

Leo is lovely. Do Lucas or Luca appeal if you both quite like Luke?

I really don't like Harley (for either gender, although I know far more girls than boys with this name now).

What about Harvey?

ghouliee · 29/07/2024 15:00

I like Emlyn, Leo and Remy.

How about

Ezra
Rudy
Mael
Seth
Rex
Flynn
Ziggy
Luca
Neo
Oslo
Sonny
River
Luan
Zeke

Going on your joint list I really like Leo and Luke. Assume you've consider Luca / Lucas

Rio obviously sounds similar to Leo - not my cup of tea but could be yours

Emlyn - hmm, okay but doesn't make the heart sing.
Emry - https://emrystore.co.uk/
Gregg - Is there even a double g-ending Greg, short for Gregory? Plus https://www.greggs.co.uk/
Scott - are you Scottish? Or US high school a couple of decades back?
Daniel - okay
Joel - screams late 20th century
Leo or Luke - yawn
Harley - unisex, if that's what you want but doubt your boy would want
Teddy - great if it's Edward on the birth certificate
Remy/i - don't even understand what this name is
Fox - nor this

Daniel or Leo.
Remind your DH that baby boy won't always be a cute bundle. He will turn into a man who has to actually live with his name!

Calliopespa · 30/07/2024 21:03

I agree a lot of these sound like bakeries or shops selling clothes for bikers.

I think Leo is quite nice and goes well with Rae.

Teddy I love but think it’s a very different vibe from Rae - not sure they work together.

Arlo I like and again it goes well with Rae. Does it really matter if it’s popular?

Gregg, Daniel and Scott sound really dated to me.

The remainder all sound made up.

Fox 🦊…. Maybe. But is it really so cool to be so intrinsically linked to a specific animal? I’ve never liked wolves and would have loathed being called Wolf .

I agree about the cute kid thing. I think it would be bizarre to walk into a boardroom in the City and have someone say to the client : “ Ah, now have you met Wolf?Alex, Wolf; Wolf, Alex🐺.”

Why can't names be made up? (None of the list is, but just wondering why not)

They can be. But I just don’t think “made-up sounding “ is a good sound for a name and I don’t think I’m alone in that. But op might want that effect🤷🏻‍♀️. If she does, she might find that feedback helpful. If she doesn’t, she might also find it helpful. There’s not much point in a name thread if people can’t and don’t say how names strike them. And some of them struck me as made up. I happen not to like that, but who knows what op thinks.
