They are all pretty names!
I voted for Naima.

Devilsmommy · 23/07/2024 17:16

Naima is the prettiest by far

Moreteaandchocolate · 23/07/2024 17:40

I like Nylah best :)

PurpleDiva22 · 23/07/2024 18:29

I'm not sure of the pronunciation of Naima.
Voted for Nylah, really pretty name!

PurpleReindeer2 · 23/07/2024 18:56

Nylah. Do you like Amira?

BoleynMemories13 · 23/07/2024 19:54

All 3 are nice. Nylah would probably come with the least pronunciation issues in Britain (not that I personally think the other 2 are difficult).

NewName24 · 23/07/2024 19:58

I voted Nylah, but I think they are all pretty. Just trying to be decisive, but I really needed an "All of the above" option Smile

Naima is pronounced Ny-eee-ma :)

@PurpleReindeer2 and yes Amira is a beautiful name.

  • Nayma

Also:

  • Maryam (Miriam)
  • Nour (light)
  • Ibtisam (smile, knew a girl nicknamed Ibti)
  • Layla (night)
  • Shahrazad (a bit more out there, from 1001 night)
  • Imaan (faith)
  • Jenna (paradise/garden)
  • Zahra (rose)
  • Mimouna,
etc.

(Hope I got the translations right, my Arabic is a bit rusty!)

Genuinely love them all. Think I’d go to Naima because it reminds me of the lovely Naima from America’s next top model 😅

Yara is lovely and Nylah is pretty too. Can’t go wrong!

Firsttimebabymummy · 23/07/2024 21:46

I voted Nylah :)

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/07/2024 22:44

Yara is my favourite as I think it has a lovely sound plus despite being unusual in the UK, I think of the 3 it is the least likely to have any pronunciation or spelling issues as similar Lara, Tara, Cara etc are already well known. Naima and Nylah are pretty but might be pronounced or spelt in other ways which could be a pain.

Ketzele · 23/07/2024 23:55

They are all lovely, but I like Naima best.

Cecilly · 24/07/2024 00:25

I like Nylah. We had a family friend many years ago whose name was "Nayla" which I think is rather beautiful.

Jessieshome · 24/07/2024 10:13

There's a character from Game of Thrones called Yara. I immediately thought of her when I saw the name. She's a very very strong willed, fearless, warrior queen, which might be a good thing (she's one of the good guys)! Also, Game of Thrones is a bit old now so people having babies now might not make the association. If you know any fans though they probable will.

Nylah is lovely.

Until you said in a follow up post I would have assumed Naima is pronounces Nay-muh. The correct pronunciation is very pretty.

sal96 · 27/07/2024 01:19

Naima 100 percent. I don’t love Nylah at all and Yara is becoming the new trendy pronounceable name for Muslims in the UK so I personally would steer clear for that reason.
