Half Greek baby due imminently. Sex unknown. Will likely live in both UK and Greece.

Given that my previous thread has confirmed Thanos is unusable in the UK - please give me your suggestions for both boy and girl names!

Tricky, no suggestions apart from try to avoid those with an "English" pronunciation which is different! Some years back I taught an Irene (pronounced i - as in it - ray knee) which is beautiful in the Greek pronunciation. Less so when said the way it is in the song "Goodnight Irene". I also taught an Iphigenia (pronounced Iffy yen knee ah) also beautiful in the Greek but she ended up correcting people who pronounced it Iffy jen nigh ah as in "Iphigenia in Tauris"

Theo not too dissimilar to Thanos and Thea is the feminine version. For a girl I love Calista and the variations, like Calli, Kalia etc which means beautiful one

Just seen your other thread.

if you like Thanos then what about using the long name Athanasios then you can shorten it to thanos but if it’s not working out you can switch to Nasos (or just Athanasios)

Oooh thank you, I love all of these!! If you replace Haris with Athansios, that’s pretty much our list for boys at the moment!

Cant use Haris or anything with Ari as, where I’m from, I know it will be translated to “arse”. 🙈

Charalambous, nickname Harry then?

but honestly, if you love it, just put Athanasios on the birth certificate and use Thanos at home. He can decide what shortening to use elsewhere himself. Greeks tend to go by many different names anyways so no one Greek will find this at all weird.
