Sound of Music Inspired Girls names. Which is your favourite? Which would you pick? And why?

Mirabel - Mirabell Gardens where it was filmed.
Liesel - one of Von trapp children.
Gretel - one of Von trapp children.

Maria to me is too old fashioned and dowdy. These are the names I would say I like best.

Liesl is definitely my favourite! Also love it as a nickname for Anneliese or Elisa.
Think my second favourite is Marta, then Louisa, then Maria. Brigitta a bit severe sounding and Gretl reminds me of Hansel and Gretl!
Also love Elsa (Baroness Schreider) if that counts even though she was a bitch 😬 and think there was a Sister Sofia?
Didn't think of the Mirabel gardens but I think Mirabel would remind me more strongly of Encanto now!

I prefer Marta and Brigitta to Liesl and Gretel. Though Brigitta is probably 'too' Sound of Music (as in never heard of from anywhere else in the UK, I don't think).

I love Liesel

Although my DD 's babe starts with an "Ay" sound and is nicknamed Edelweiss

I think Maria is a beautiful and timeless name! A true classic.

Charmian (after actress Charmian Carr) is an unusual and very pretty name.

Eleonore and Maria would be my picks.

Louisa is also a fave.

Mirabel but I’d spell it Mirabelle.

She wasn't exactly named after SoM... but it did introduce me to the name.

She is more like Brigitta than Luisa!
She was nearly named Elsa, but it was too similar to DD1... which turned out well since Frizen was released soon after.

Liesl is beautiful!

I love Brigitta, Louisa, Marta and Margarethe (mar-ga-retta, she's one of the nuns!).
