Joe and Jess?

We've just found out we are having a little girl. We already have a boy called Joseph (we mainly call him Joe and he calls himself Joey).

What do we think to Jess as a sibling? She'd probably mainly get called Jessie. Together they would be
Joseph and Jessica
Joey and Jessie
Joe and Jess

Is Jessica too common?

They sound lovely together to me - great names 😊

Joseph and Jessica is sweet.

Jessica is not common these days.

Firsttimebabymummy · 13/07/2024 11:41

Jessica isn't commen these days and a lovely name :)

Love Jessica. It's not even in the top 50 anymore so definitely not too popular. Joseph and Jessica compliment each other well.

Both names sounds great: solid names with lots of shorter options.
However, do you want both your children to have the same initial? J Bloggs and J Bloggs?
Probably they'll have different middle initials but it may still be tedious trying to work out who is who on paperwork and more.

NB: Pretty soon there will be 10 posters to say how much they loved having the same initial as their sibling and/or that their children have the same initial and it's fab/not a problem.

Will you have a third? You’ll feel obliged to use a J name again so that they all match.

Joe and Jess sounds lovely together.

They sound lovely together. Go for it. Jessica is timeless but not commonly used now. I’m a Jessica in my mid 60s. The only other I know is in her 30s. It suits all ages and is a classic.

Jessica is lovely.

Jess is lovely.
Also Joseph is a great name. Love your choices, they sound good together too.

Absolutely lovely. They were my grandparents names a lovely couple and nice people so please go for it. The title of your thread brought back lovely warm thoughts 🥰

A friend has two adult DC with those names. I didn't personally want children with the same initial, but as long as that's not a deal-breaker for you, I don't think the names are so similar that they sound silly. They're both very nice names individually.

Very nice- Joseph and Jessica are both classic, popular names that everyone can say and spell ( and with obvious nn’s) but that are not too trendy. They work well together and I love a boy/girl sibset with the same initial, it’s both cute and practical (with sharing labelled school stuff). Only issue might be if you had a third child as another J name would be too much 🤣

izzydrizzy04 · 18/07/2024 16:09

love them, i prefer jessie to jess but nicknames will just evolve over time.

WhenSunnyGetsBlue · 27/07/2024 14:35

Love it! But I am biased with a 4 months old Jessica. I get lots of compliments on my daughter's name. But it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, if you love it then go for it.
