Sister name for Elena

I have a really hard time finding girl names that I connect with and love, and also go with my daughter’s name “Elena.” One name I decided I do love is “Naia.”

I guess I keep getting in my head that maybe they don’t pair well together, but I really want them to. So please be honest, do they sound weird together? Or am I overthinking this?

Lily?

WeeCee · 08/07/2024 06:35

I find it hard saying elena and naia together because of the n sound in and, and the n sound in naia.

Moreteaandchocolate · 08/07/2024 07:19

I hadn’t heard of Naia before - is it said Nye-a? It’s nice but could get mixed up with the very popular Maia / Maya / Mia names, if that would bother you at all? I think it sounds nice with Elena and is a pretty name.

Sundaysunshine21 · 08/07/2024 14:05

How do you pronounce Naia? My assumption would be Ny-a. I like it.

Do you pronounce your Elena’s name as Ellen-a or Elayn-a?

What about:

Kaia/Caia
Thea
Anna
Aria
Leila
Leonie
Livia
Ada

Teamarugula · 08/07/2024 14:09

I’m also not sure how to pronounce Naia - nye-uh or nay-uh? My phone autocorrected it to capitals, apparently it’s the national association of international athletics…

What about:
Natalia
Naomi
Natasha
Maria
Sophia
Emilia
Francesca
Penelope
Zara
Isabella
Clara

They are pronounced “uh-lay-nuh,” and “nye-uh.” Yeah I know an “L” name or something would roll off the tongue better. I was hoping the “N’s” would help them go together. Guess not. :(

I just love the names so much individually, nothing else has come close. It’s unfortunate. I appreciate all input though!

Gabriella, Adriana, Maria, Viorica, Madalina, Cristina.

Sandysandwich · 08/07/2024 17:24

I like it but as a pair they are a bit hard to say, not that that really matters.

I like Elena and Naia together.

sciencemama · 08/07/2024 19:30

The double n doesn't sit right with me but how about Kaia

HaleyKuppens · 08/07/2024 19:30

Thoughts on Alara or Azra?
Is Elena and Alara too similar?
Does Elena and Azra sound halfway decent?

Thanks again everyone! :)

Instantly thought Nora ❤️

HaleyKuppens · 08/07/2024 19:39

^ I like the idea of a cutesy nickname match like “Lena” and “Lala,” but idk if Elena and Alara sounds to similar to where people will get confused a lot.

Elena and Nina? Elena and Maya? Elena and Julia? Elena and Anna? Elena and Sara? Elena and Sofia? Elena and Lara? Elena and Mila? Elena and Louisa?

I always think of Elena as a classic cross- cultural name, those are others that I think are a similar style.

Springwatch123 · 08/07/2024 19:59

I think Elena and Naua are to similar sounds, and almost sounds like a nn fir Elena.

Phoebe was my first thought. other names include Margot, Crystal, Tilly.

timoteigirl · 08/07/2024 20:09

Not heard of Naia before. Only come across Nyah as Thandiwe Newton's character in Mission Impossible 2.

Does it really matter if they go together or not?

Please no Nora etc. I suggest Francesca in case you need an alternative. Similar classic timeless name as Elena.

ComoSeDicePepinoEnIngles · 08/07/2024 20:17

Agree, the sounds are all the same. It sounds confusing.

Elena and Noemi ?

Sundaysunshine21 · 08/07/2024 20:39

i really like Elena and Azra. Azra is really pretty but also strong and there’s not much ambiguity with the pronunciation! I think you could use Naia though if that’s the name you love. It only really matters with sibling names if they rhyme or are really similar or male/female variants e.g. Ellen and Elena would be weird, or Henry and Henrietta.

Twazique · 09/07/2024 10:58

Elena and Astrid
