Isla, Elsie or Rosa?

Hi there, love these 3 names but can't decide. I know Isla is on trend at the minute, we have always loved it but brothers sisters daughter is called Ida. Is this too similar?

We both also love Elsie and Rosa.

Which one do you like best?

Isla is way too similar to Ida sorry!

live Rosa, but Elsie goes best 🥰

Nicebloomers · 04/07/2024 22:11

I voted Rosa but it was very close between that and Elsie. Isla is very overdone and too close to Ida.

Curlewwoohoo · 04/07/2024 22:13

I wouldn't do Isla with a niece Ida, if you see them. Sorry. I would go Rosa personally.

MigAndMog · 04/07/2024 22:13

Loads of girls' names at the moment seem to start with vowels! I like Rosa.

Moreteaandchocolate · 04/07/2024 22:47

I love the name Isla but it is too similar to Ida unfortunately! Elsie and Rosa are both lovely ☺️ Or how about Ayla? To give a different vowel sound to Ida?

JimNast · 05/07/2024 00:13

If you say Ida as Eye-da, then Isla (Eye-la) is too similar.
I don't like Elsie.

TobiasForgesContactLense · 05/07/2024 00:29

I voted Rosa. It is strong but nice as well. DS would have been Rosa if he had been a girl.

What a great name! And perfect for that situation. Isla is lovely but quite common now and too similar to cousin but tiny change makes a whole new beautiful name that is quite unique!

MistyHazelFox · 05/07/2024 07:01

I like Rosa the best, that's why I voted for it.
I really like Ida, love to see if being used. I assume its being pronounced standard English way? And what do you mean by brothers sisters? Are you not related?
in any case, yes it's too similar.

Is Ivy an option?

Namechanger385u4p · 05/07/2024 08:41

Elsie. I love this, but check it sounds ok in your local accemt as i would hate "Ewwsy" pronounciation,

StringTheory1 · 05/07/2024 09:13

Elsie & Isla are both done to death round here. Isla is already dating.
Theyre the Julie & Joanne of this generation.

Rosa is much better from that angle, and it’s more mature & less cutesy.

deeahgwitch · 05/07/2024 09:15

I love Elsie but don't like Rosa.
I do like Rosie though.

Sorry typo, I meant my brothers daughter is called Ida 😂

Thanks for the responses so far and thank you to Moreteaandchocolate for Ayla. What a lovely name.

I know a lovely Ayla, such a pretty name.

AngelDelightButNotStrawberry · 05/07/2024 15:03

Elsie is also done to death! Not a fan of it personally.

I like Isla but as with Elsie it’s one of those names that’s always just paired with the filler middle names of Rose/Grace/May which makes it boring.

deeahgwitch · 05/07/2024 15:57

Ayla will be forever spelt incorrectly.
People will hear it and automatically assume it is Isla.

skinnyoptionsonly · 05/07/2024 16:09

Rosa. Isla is way overused.

Elsie isn't nice imo.

TempsPerdu · 05/07/2024 21:06

Rosa is the only one with any gravitas. Isla is so wispy and nothingy, and Elsie is cutesy/twee, plus both are super common.

PollyPeep · 05/07/2024 21:08

How about Rosy?

Violet1988 · 05/07/2024 21:25

Rosa 100% it's beautiful ❤️

I agree. Rosa is a strong name.

Elsie and Isla are forgettable and are mashed in with all of the Eva/Ava/Ella/Esmae/Elsa brigade.

mathanxiety · 05/07/2024 21:41

Rosa.

Elsie is a milkmaid name.

buma · 05/07/2024 21:46

My Daughter is called Isla, but was very nearly called Rosa or Elsie!

Personally, I would go for Rosa.

Other names we had on our list incase useful:
Violet
Essie
Iris
Eliza
