about names being posh, c**y, etc.....

In non-English speaking countries do they also have this thing where (some) people think certain names are posh, traditional, boring, common, etc etc.

Just wondering if it is because so many people in the UK are obsessed (allegedly) by class or is it a world-wide phenomenon?

(And I didn't realise baby names had their own topic!)

in spain women seem to mostly be called maria

or they used to be

and then call themselves slemthing else so as to not get muddled up

I don't think anyone is as class obsessed as the British tbh.

I was thinking along the lines of are there say "traditional" Spanish names that some people now spell differently but sound the same - eg Jaxon and Jackson in a recent thread
