Eev-lyn or Evlin. Evvuh-lin is more usual these days though.

DS has one in in his class which is Eve-lyn (sometimes shortened to Evie). But prior to that I would have probably said Ev-uh- lyn.

I would pronounce it Ev'e'lyn.

The 2nd pronunciation (3 syllable with a soft “eh”) is the standard in the UK these days imo - I think it’s imported from the US.

Decades ago in the UK it was different - most older Evelyn’s were pronounced the 2 syllable way (whether male or female) with a strong “Ee”. Still even then, there was an odd “Ev-lin” (2 syllable but soft “eh”) to confuse things!

Can be either, although in my experience most are pronounced with 3 syllables:- Ev-eh-lyn.

Eve-lyn is the second most common pronunciation but this one feels quite dated to me. Personally I don't know anyone under the age of 70 with the name who pronounces it like this.

As a much rarer 3rd option, I've also heard Ev-lin.

It's one of those names I guess, much like Esme, Maya, Mila, Sara, Alecia etc where you just have to check ahead how they pronounce it if you see it written down on paper.
