Grace - far stronger and timeless

AngelDelightButNotStrawberry · 20/06/2024 18:18

Honestly? I’m so bored of Evie. It’s so overdone. Along with all the Avas, Ivys, Evelyns and Eva’s. She’ll just be yet another Evie.

Not a big fan of Grace but that’s mainly because along with Rose and May it’s every other girl’s middle name. Evie-Grace, Lily-Grace, Eva-Grace, Olivia-Grace, Amelia-Grace. Both are saturated.

bumptobabysoon · 20/06/2024 18:24

I've never met an Evie or a Grace despite their supposed popularity.
Both lovely names.

cheezncrackers · 20/06/2024 18:25

So many Graces and Evies ....

I'd pick something else. Preferably something less popular. There are thousands of names out there. Why does everyone pick the same ones?

ProfessorPeppy · 20/06/2024 18:27

I met a lot of Year 6s today and honestly there were 2 Graces and Evies in every single class.

MissBattleaxe · 20/06/2024 18:32

I think just about every under 6 I know is Evie, Grace or Ella. Id like to see more flower names. Daisy, Jasmine, Aster, Rose, Violet.

ReadtheReviews · 20/06/2024 19:04

Grace is visually and aurally not particularly attractive. Evie (autocorrected to Evil twice before I could get it to stick) is OK. Why not Evelyn or Eden?

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 20/06/2024 19:33

Between those two, Grace. It has such positive connotations difficult to go wrong.

I don't mind Evie but honestly Eve, Eva, Evelyn, Eveline (not sure of spelling) can all be abbreviated. Eve is equally classic and if her personality is Evie then all good.

Muddysockchase · 20/06/2024 19:38

If it has to be one of these, then I’d pick Grace.

Moreteaandchocolate · 20/06/2024 22:19

They are both beautiful names! Personally my favourite is Evie :)

FangsForTheMemory · 20/06/2024 22:35

Grace. Evie is a nickname to me.

What’s an “Evie” personality?

LauderSyme · 20/06/2024 22:47

Definitely Grace out of those two, because Evie is pretty but a bit wishy washy. I am acquainted with one and always have to go through a mental rolodex with her... Ivy...? Edie...? I'm not usually bad with names either.

Grace is a timeless classic and it's spiritual meaning is beautiful.

I’d have to agree with all of this, though Grace would be my choice if I had to pick. As a PP said, Evie sounds like a nickname.

Noosnom · 20/06/2024 23:22

Neither. They are so overused. Probably dated now.

Firsttimebabymummy · 20/06/2024 23:31

Grace by a long way!

PardonMee · 20/06/2024 23:34

Both lovely

RogueFemale · 21/06/2024 00:11

Neither. Both Grace/Gracie and Eve/Evie very overdone. My neighbours's two daughters are Grace/Gracie and Eve/Evie. They are people with no imagination.

Spannerscott · 21/06/2024 07:25

I think maybe it's regional because I work in a primary school and have never come across these names.
I'm in the SW.

Spannerscott · 21/06/2024 07:28

Forgot to answer the question, I like Evie slightly more but love both as they're not frilly and I prefer short names.

TheaBrandt · 21/06/2024 07:30

Just be aware they are the equivalent of calling your Dd Sarah or Claire in the 70s. Massively popular almost generic names now. I would look for something a little more special.

So relieved I clocked on as nearly called my first Olivia then realised that so was pretty much everyone else that year so made a better choice. First baby group - 3 Olivia’s.

TheaBrandt · 21/06/2024 07:32

Also both dds have had dealings with unpleasant and extremely graceless girls called Grace so it has bad associations for us!

cheapskatemum · 21/06/2024 07:46

I love the name Grace and think it's timeless. Love the 2 meanings as well: affording someone grace and being graceful physically. I've never liked Eve, or Evie, so it's Grace for me by a long mile. I know more little girls called Evie than Grace.

babybirdsmomma · 21/06/2024 08:31

Grace is timeless , suits the person whatever their age, from a tiny tot through to an old lady.

MoonshineSon · 21/06/2024 08:36

My friends lovely daughter is called Grace. She is the clumsiest child I've ever met. My friend says she's tempted fate!
