we have just found out we are having a little girl and I need help with names. I’m finding out surname Elliot, really hard to match girls names with. My LO is called Zack Alexander. I really like Ada Grace or Elsie Grace but worried it’s too vowely with Elliot?

any suggestions? Thanks!

What about Grace MiddleName Elliot? Only one vowel in whole name.
For example Grace Elsie Elliot, middle names aren't used as much, and then she is mostly using G.E., instead of E.E. as initials.
Other ideas
Pearl Elliot
Mary Elliot
Jasmine Elliot
Alice Elliot
Megan Elliot
Jade Elliot

Why would Ada not work with Elliot? It sounds perfectly fine. I can understand your hesitation with Elsie as then you have strong alliteration - which I personally love as I think it makes names memorable, but it isn’t a lot of peoples taste.

However my personal taste is for more classic names (Ada and Elsie are currently very trendy, as is Grace for a middle name) so combined with my love of alliteration I’d probably go for something like Emma Elliot instead. And choose a family name that has meaning to you for the middle name (unless Grace is a family name?).

I once knew a family called Elliot. Their children will be adults/nearly adults now but the girls were:
Sophie
Rebecca
Grace

I think Ada and Elsie are both fine with Elliot but agree that perhaps a consonant at the start and end might work better. How about:
Bethan, Bronwen, Carys, Celeste, Faith, Hazel, Jennifer, Jasmine, Kathryn, Lois, Mabel, Meredith, Megan, Nicole, Paige, Pearl, Quinn, Rachel, Robyn, Rowan, Raven, Summer, Scarlett, Seren, Shannon, Skylar, Samaris, Tamsin, Taryn, Tegan, Yasmin.

Ada Elliot will be Aduh Relliot.
Grace Elliot sounds like Gray Celliot
Not keen on Elsie and it's too many El-s
Annie would go nicely

I love your son’s name!

Ada and Elsie are OK but both quite trendy and a bit twee to my ear. Like PP, I prefer Grace as the first name.

Other ideas that I think have a similar vibe and work well with your surname and with Zack: Anna, Nina, Sadie, Junie, Lola.

I agree those names are too vowely with your surname

AngelDelightButNotStrawberry · 11/06/2024 20:59

Yes those names are too vowely with your last name, they don’t go. Also every other girl has Grace as a middle name (along with Rose/May), it’s been done to death.

I think Ada Elliot sounds fine, and I really like Ada Grace :) I also don’t mind the alliteration of Elsie Elliot - I think she could be famous with that name!
