I really like it for a girl, it's not overly common. Any thoughts?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry but I think it's awful. It reminds me of a make of floor mop many years ago. 😆😆

DappledThings · 31/05/2024 21:14

Never heard of it before I watch For All Mankind but I really like it

Kitkat1523 · 31/05/2024 21:14

Truly Awful name

Would that be Vileda?

ItsVeryHyacinthBucket · 31/05/2024 21:15

I know an Aleida, she’s in her teens now but it always sounds like a cleaning/mop brand to me. Or “a leader”

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/05/2024 21:41

I haven’t heard it before but quite like it! Ally is a cute nn too.

NetMum2 · 01/06/2024 03:56

Is it pronounced a-leader?
I think there are nicer names out there… maybe Elena, Alyssa?

Littlelillies · 01/06/2024 06:05

I'd pronounce it as Al eh ee da. 4 syllables

seafronty · 01/06/2024 06:14

This is unbelievably bad. Sounds like a cleaning product. Just terrible.

This was my first thought too.

Sorry op.

CurlewKate · 01/06/2024 06:26

I think a rule of thumb should be not to give your child a name that makes people from her own cultural background say "Sorry? Didn't quite catch that." Life can be hard enough without adding unnecessary hurdles!

KirstenBlest · 01/06/2024 10:58

How do you say it?

Jessieshome · 01/06/2024 19:38

I think it's lovely! I'd pronounce it A-Lay-duh

jannier · 01/06/2024 19:54

Skin cream or floor mop?

Purplecatshopaholic · 01/06/2024 19:57

Sounds made up, and frankly terrible. Sorry.

Greengrapeofhome · 01/06/2024 20:09

Id pronounce it A-lay-duh because that’s how the character on orange is the the new black pronounces it

CerealPonderer · 01/06/2024 20:16

I'd have said Al--ee-da.

She'll be called Al-ee-da, Al-eye-da,
Al-lay-da and probably others.

I wouldn't, it would drive me nuts correcting people all the time.

RogueFemale · 01/06/2024 22:50

Don't like it at all.

That's even worse
