What do you think of the name Buddy?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
artichokes · 06/04/2008 09:51

to be totally honest it makes me think of a very cute and loyal puppy...

are you a Buddy Holly fan? i think his real name was Charles.

SlartyBartFast · 06/04/2008 09:52

hmm,
not for me peronslaly

3andnomore · 06/04/2008 09:52

not keen on it...to me it also brings an image of a cute puppy...

dizzydixies · 06/04/2008 09:56

not keen either sorry

vicsta · 06/04/2008 10:00

Definitely not where I live, we use the word Buddy instead of mate, i.e. allright buddy?, c'mon buddy. But then, I suppose that makes it quite a popular name!

SlartyBartFast · 06/04/2008 10:00

don't they use it in schools?
a friendship buddy?

MrsMattie · 06/04/2008 10:02

A 'No' from me.

Hulababy · 06/04/2008 10:02

I don't like it, sorry.

WigWamBam · 06/04/2008 10:14

I don't like it at all.

Great as a nickname - but I suspect a child given it as his "proper" name wouldn't much like it once he got past the age of about 6.

Buda · 06/04/2008 10:23

It is not a name. It is a word. Sorry.

And it's very American.

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 10:25

not sure

windygalestoday · 06/04/2008 10:25

cyteen · 06/04/2008 11:12

It does make me think of a dog's name - sorry.

LaDiDaDi · 06/04/2008 11:14

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 06/04/2008 12:32

Ok thanks thought it would be a "nice different name"

OP posts:
NotABanana · 06/04/2008 19:21

Plenty of others that are nice and actually a name. If you really have to have it, what about as a middle name?

NotABanana · 06/04/2008 19:22

Would the baby's father want to have been called Buddy?

Twinkie1 · 06/04/2008 19:22

Woof!

It's going to be a bit when he's a head teacher/top scientist/head of MI5/Prime Minister though, isn't it!
