We can’t decide between two names!

We are completely stuck between two names for our little boy. Lucas or Freddie (Frederick). Please could I have your opinions!! Lucas seems easy and no need to shorten. Frederick would always be called Freddie which I love and don’t have a problem with either. But we just don’t know!!

Both lovely names but Lucas would be my choice

Lucas. I love Frederick but there are so many Freddies!

I prefer Lucas, although you could just call him Freddie if that's what you like, no need for Frederick.

They are both nice, and in my school are equally popular as names- I’d say one of each in every class.

Lucas. I know more than 10 Freddie’s under 10 and he will get Freddie.

I prefer Lucas, out of the two, but Freddie is ok.

Lucas is very handsome and the few who I have taught have all been lovely. Freddie feels more like a cheeky chappy name to me.

Not keen on either but if I had to choose between them I would choose Freddie.

Lucas, Frederick needs a break for another 20yrs or so, overdone imo.

Lucas. Freddie is both wearyingly overused and has cheeky chappie vibes, while Frederick is stuffy.

I prefer Frederick but with Fred not Freddie as the diminutive. Fred seems a really cool teen name.

Freddie. My DGF was a Fred and he was absolutely adorable.

I also prefer Frederick to Lucas.

Both good, but would say Lucas

I know so many Freddies. (Under the age of 10). And all are without exception lovely boys.

I have not come across a young Lucas in the wild. 30s and above yes, but not under 10s. So I would lean towards that myself. But that said-both mine have what i thought were fairly unusual but became top 10s within a few years of their birth so what do I know!

I like both! Freddie has more of a vintage classic feel, whereas Lucas feels a bit more trendy / international to me. Which vibe do you prefer? I think I’d choose Freddie.

I know a lot of Freddie, don't know a single Lucas. Know a few called Luca, but not Lucas!
