All overused, can you widen your shortlist

WindowViper · 26/05/2024 12:26

Charlotte.

There are two Lyras and three Lylas in DD’s nursery group.

Berlinlover · 26/05/2024 12:26

Sophie.

Mrsjayy · 26/05/2024 12:26

I love Lyra it's quite popular at the moment but it's a great name

Trying to decide between Lyra, Sophie and Charlotte…

Charlotte... I wanted to call my daughter Charlotte but my cousin stole the name!
We would have called her Lottie day to day - are you happy with Lottie because others will I'm sure!

GoodVibesHere · 26/05/2024 12:28

Charlotte

I couldn’t decide between Lyra and Sophie - both beautiful names. I went for Lyra as although it’s currently popular, it’s less widely used in the general population so she’d be more likely to be the only Lyra in the work place etc in the future, whereas I currently work with 3 Sophie’s. Charlotte is lovely too but I’m not keen on Charlie.

JimPansy · 26/05/2024 14:38

Sophie. I've liked it since I was little.
Charlotte is also nice. Both names were used by cousins so couldn't use them.
Not keen on Charlie or Lottie or Sophia.
I don't like Lyra at all.

BoleynMemories13 · 26/05/2024 14:59

All 3 are lovely. Lyra is statistically the least popular but rapidly rising and could become faddy, unlike the classic Charlotte and Sophie which remain quite stable (and are actually both declining slightly, moving their way down the top 50 while Lyra continues to shoot up towards it). Lyra is also very similar to Lyla and Lara which are also on the rise.

I voted for Charlotte, but do like all 3. Going against the grain though, I much prefer Charlie to Lottie as a nickname!

There is a Charlotte and a Sophie in the Royal Family.

Sophie

PiggieWig · 26/05/2024 15:13

Sophie. I’ve never met a Sophie I didn’t like. It’s a beautiful name on a baby, child or grown woman.

SatinHeart · 26/05/2024 15:38

Sophie

NewName24 · 26/05/2024 16:29

Charlotte and Sophie are both nice names.

Don't like the name Lyra at all.

I picked Charlotte. It was second on my girls names list to Sofia! I personally (slightly) prefer Sofia to Sophie.
I’m not sure why Lyra is so popular… it’s not classical, pretty and sounds a bit like ā€˜lier’.

LittleGreenDuck · 26/05/2024 20:38

Charlotte, though I'm not keen on Charlie, or even worse, Char. Lottie is nice.

Sophie is ok.

I do like Lyra, but worry that it will date her in a way the other two names wouldn't.

SkaneTos · 26/05/2024 23:04

I voted for Lyra, but they are all good names!

RuthW · 26/05/2024 23:16

Not keen on any but Charlotte is the best.
