Does it give any specific impressions? I would appreciate your opinions.

I always think of German. It means morning and tomorrow.

Fourfurrymonsters · 22/05/2024 20:57

My (Scottish) Morgan is almost 24 now and I named her after the lead character in my favourite book on the Arthurian legend, but also because we lived right by the sea and in Celtic it means exactly that…by the sea, or sea-born. I still think it’s a beautiful name (and she was 1 of 2 female Morgan’s in her school year).

I love it as a boys name but on a girl I think 'late 90s early 00s dated'

Scrumbleton · 22/05/2024 21:03

It's quite American but pretty cool too- makes me think of Morgan Fairchild 80s blonde bombshell

I like it, I've not heard it for a girl in years but it is a nice name.

MaltipooMama · 22/05/2024 21:10

I think it's a nice name, no problem at all with it but it does remind me of the clothing brand from the 90s/00s. Particularly my favourite clear plastic tote bag with "Morgan" splashed all over it! Ah the good old days 🤣

FloofyBear · 22/05/2024 21:14

Morgan le fey - I used to want that name for my girl baby name but it was quite a bit more common so changed my mind,

TheCryingTheBitchAndTheFloordrobe · 22/05/2024 21:27

American from the 1970s/80s

Footzok · 22/05/2024 21:28

Chav

Areolaborealis · 22/05/2024 21:29

Morg for short which is a bit close to 'morgue' for me.

LuluBlakey1 · 22/05/2024 21:30

I think it's horribly dated for a girl- very 1980s Dynasty tv series glm.

whatthematters · 22/05/2024 21:31

Morgan Fairchild. She’s female

Canteloupetoday · 22/05/2024 21:32

It's a common enough girls name in Scotland

Cucumberz · 22/05/2024 21:34

Like it

SilverBranchGoldenPears · 22/05/2024 21:35

Boy. Definitely.

Fink · 22/05/2024 21:35

I would think the parents had unintentionally spelled the name wrong as I grew up with Morgane as the feminine and Morgan as the masculine (pronounced with different stresses from each other). But on a small sample size; I've not known huge numbers of Morgan(e)s of either sex.

The only cultural link I would make is with Morgana le Fey. I have no memory of a clothing brand.

RuthW · 22/05/2024 21:36

I think why would you give a child a name that will never shortened to Morg.

Riverlee · 22/05/2024 21:36

I know a female Morgan who is lovely - friendly, chatty, always asks after you, a credit to her name.

mitogoshi · 22/05/2024 21:38

Makes me think they are American. I don't get surnames as first names

NewName24 · 22/05/2024 22:27

I'd thing "Why do parents give their dc surnames for their first name?"

Ticktapticktap · 22/05/2024 22:28

Isn't it king Arthur's sister? Or Merlin's sister?

It's an English mythology woman I know that.

I like it!

Uteris · 22/05/2024 23:22

All the girls called Morgan and Jordan in my school were chavs and now they work in care

Uteris · 22/05/2024 23:24

However I will caveat that with that I grew up in wales and it's not at all seen as a girls name in wales, lots of boys are called Morgan and none are from chav families apart from the 2 girls previously mentioned
