Elowyn?

My god, naming children is so stressful!

my first child is called Ellaria (ar like car) and finding another girls names that I like just as much is causing me great stress!

I want it to be unusual but still to sound like a name. I like longer names with 3 or more syllables. It doesn’t need to be unusual as such but I dunno if it feels like it should be unusual to go with Ellaria 😂

I think Elowyn is usually spelt Elowen, and is said as L Owen.
It's nice but you'd have 2 Ellies.

Lowenna has a similar meaning to Elowen, and is pretty and underused.

If you want a longish name, Miranda. Tamara or Vanessa are elegant and unusual without being unknown.

I've not heard of the car.

Watch Game of Thrones for more inspo?

KirstenBlest · 21/05/2024 21:06

Oops! There is no car. There was me thinking it was a Nissan Ellaria. Blush

I love it but yes, two Ellies probably won't work.

Maybe something like Rowena or Seren? Or Lowenna as @KirstenBlest mentioned is lovely too.

Éowyn?

Milliemoo1908 · 21/05/2024 21:23

Eloise?

PitterPatter3 · 21/05/2024 21:25

I like it but don’t think it goes great with Ellaria if I’m honest. They’re a bit much together.

Leopardmatches · 21/05/2024 21:28

Éowyn is a name that Tolkien made up. It’s a pretty name.

miniaturepixieonacid · 21/05/2024 21:41

I like it but have only seen it written Elowen. And I agree that two Ellies is a big risk. You obviously wouldn't call them both Ellie but their individual groups of friends might.

How about Ellaria and ...

Ariadne, Anoushka, Aven, Bianca, Briar, Bettina, Calliope, Calista, Celyn, Danica, Devora, Delphi, Ebony, Evadne, Emmanuela, Fenella, Fabia, Felicia, Giana, Guinevere, Genevieve, Honor, Harmony, Hebe, Isadora, Iona, Imelda, Jacinta, Jocasta, Juniper, Keziah, Kendra, Kiki, Lorelai, Leonie, Livia, Miranda, Marissa, Melinda, Nerilly, Neriah, Nadia, Octavia, Odette, Opal, Paloma, Pandora, Persephone, Rhiannon, Rosina, Rowena, Saffron, Saskia, Sephora, Tassita, Talitha, Tamara, Verity, Vivianne, Vanessa, Xanthe, Xanthippe, Zipporah, Zeryn, Zelda

Love it but too much together

iAmBarbara · 21/05/2024 22:10

Lovely name but I definitely wouldn’t use it if you have an Ellaria (both ‘el’ names) as they’re too similar.

some unusual names that sound nice with Ellaria (in my opinion of course!)

Cordelia (Cora etc)
Ophelia
Georgiana
Giselle
Calliope (Callie)
Demelza (Cornish name? Could use Demi as nickname?)
Eira (Welsh- pronounced like ay-ra)

Moreteaandchocolate · 21/05/2024 22:35

I really like Elowen but I agree that you could end up with two Ellie’s.

How about

Amaya
Isadora
Lorelei
Anneliese
Romilly
Adelaide
Adeline
Leonora
Amberly
Leonie
Luciana
Marceline
Alessia
Alayna

Well spotted! But would you believe it wasn’t from game of thrones? (As in the inspiration) originally we thought we made it up! Not really sure which story is worse but she’s four now and definitely is an Ellaria lol

Thanks guys for the nice comments and very constructive about Ellaria

I did wonder about the two Ellie’s things but then I thought we might get away with it because often people have the same nickname if it’s based on surnames anyway (smithy for example) think you guys are probably right though.

Some great name suggestions I hadn’t thought of though so so going to really look through them. Thanks all :)
