Thoughts? I'm in love with it but my partner is on the fence. We would pronounce 'adeliiine' not 'adelyn'

I find it a bit maiden aunt

cherryassam · 20/05/2024 13:26

Would you be pronouncing add-uh-lean or add-uh-line or add-uh-lyn?

Agree with this I'm afraid. But the only one I ever met was in her 60s so I expect that's why.

TravellingIncognito · 20/05/2024 13:32

I think it's great.

BoredAuditor · 20/05/2024 13:33

Lovely and reminds me of Blake Lively.

Francisflute · 20/05/2024 13:34

I like it. Classic, not over used.

BecuaseIWantItThatWay · 20/05/2024 13:48

Beautiful name! Elegant and not overused.

No maiden aunt at all - and quite unlike the fashion to name babies after great-grandma!

DuchessOfSausage · 20/05/2024 13:48

Add a line? I don't like it and she'll get Addelyn or Addaleen a lot.

Caroline is nice.

My niece has a friend called this, I’d never heard it before. I quite like it, though I think I prefer madeleine (which I think the French pronounce like you want it but with an m at the start!)

Moreteaandchocolate · 20/05/2024 14:00

Love it! I know a teenage Adeline who uses Addy with her friends which is cool and suits her

Summertimer · 20/05/2024 14:03

I had a colleague called A-dell- line

She was lovely and it’s a lovely name. Does not bother me that she’d be about 90 if still going.

SunniestOfSundays · 20/05/2024 15:30

I’m UK based and when I see this I’d automatically pronounce it “add-a-line” and not “add-a-lin”.

I really like it.
