Fraser - one of my favourite boy names

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/05/2024 13:34

I prefer Fraser - I like that it’s a strong and handsome name, that’s well known, but not overused.

Francis sounds feminine to me because I know a few female Frances. I like Frank though.

canyouletthedogoutplease · 14/05/2024 13:37

Fraser no contest.

Amch · 14/05/2024 13:37

Fraser x

EmiliaGeorge · 14/05/2024 13:40

Fraser - 100%! Francis feels very dated

Nicebloomers · 14/05/2024 13:50

Both great names. I do like the nn Frank so I vote Francis. You can’t go wrong with either though.

takemeawayagain · 14/05/2024 14:05

Fraser definitely, Francis is very feminine to me.

WayDownThere · 14/05/2024 14:06

Both nice name, prefer Francis though.

Theoldwoman · 14/05/2024 14:08

Francis

Likemyjealouseel · 14/05/2024 14:09

Francis

Gingerkittykat · 14/05/2024 14:56

Fraser, Francis seems like a really effeminate name.

Katiesaidthat · 14/05/2024 15:06

Francis, to me Fraser sounds like a dog name. But then my uncles are Francisco and are anything but effeminate.

ClaudiaWinklepanda · 14/05/2024 15:07

Fraser. Lovely. Fray Bentos for a baby nn.

DramaAlpaca · 14/05/2024 15:07

Fraser, it's just a bit different (at least, outside Scotland it is)

I like Francis, but not any of its diminutives.

Wheredidallthecowboysgo · 14/05/2024 15:10

Francis or Fran I love.

Heatedblanky · 14/05/2024 16:11

I feel like I should like Francis, but I took an aversion to it as a child and can’t seem to get past that. Fraser is cool though.

NetMum2 · 14/05/2024 17:05

Francis

ignatiusjreilly · 14/05/2024 17:06

Francis

MumChp · 14/05/2024 17:13

Francis.

WiloTheWisp · 14/05/2024 18:33

Fraser. Always disliked Francis, it’s so drippy.

FayCarew · 14/05/2024 19:48

Both really nice. Frank is better than Fray/Frase. I don't find Francis drippy or effeminate.

PoppingTomorrow · 14/05/2024 20:09

I personally would choose Fraser (Scots affinity) but I really like Frankie as a NN and remember cool Frans (Healy, and a beautiful guy at uni)

PizzaPastaWine · 14/05/2024 20:16

I like both but dislike Frase (which the two Frasers I know are called). So for that reason I would choose Francis.

OhHonestlyGetFucked · 14/05/2024 20:30

Fraser is lush.

Francis is so drippy and wet, and Frank isn't a great nickname either to me.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/05/2024 23:14

I generally don’t like surnames as first names , but Fraser is one of the few exceptions - it sounds gorgeous imo , especially if you have any Scots links.

Francis is an underused and elegant classic but a) it sounds the same as female Frances which not every boy may appreciate as he gets older and b) Frank and Frankie are quite trendy now which may not be what you are looking for.
