I like it for a child but I wouldn’t personally like to be called Tabitha as an adult - I’d cringe a bit introducing myself as Tabitha for some reason (maybe it feels a bit posh and / or twee, I’m not sure!) And there isn’t really a good short option (Tabby is a cat to me).

I don't like it at all, not on a human. Fine on a cat.

How do you pronounce it? ta-BEE-tha or TA-be-tha or something else?

Love it, despite generally preferring more “classic” names . Imo Tabitha is cute, quirky and fun (like the Tabitha in Bewitched or the Beatrix Potter character) yet sounds just about elegant enough for a grown up as well.

Tabby is very cute on a little one, but like a pp I prefer the nn Kit/Kitty for all ages too.

It’s great for a cat but I find it to be an incredibly ugly and clunky name on a human being.

Love it and have one myself. I’m not sure how much choice you’ll get in the nickname though, my Tabitha has an endless number of random nicknames from all sorts of people.

How come so many people get the nn Kit from Tabitha? Have I missed something?

Because, as several people have already sniped posted, it's often considered to be 'a cat's name'. Therefore, the nickname Kit or Kitty leans into this (and uses it to advantage, IMHO). I like it!
