Nina or Nora?

Middle name Jean

I know about the possible Norma Jean association but not sure it will be too relevant or even thought about to her / her peers!

If it's Nora, I hope the last name isn't Bone.

tiggergoesbounce · 10/05/2024 19:25

I agree Nola is a lovely name and much preferred to the ones listed.

NetMum2 · 10/05/2024 20:13

I much prefer Nina, but I don’t think it goes as well with the middle name Jean.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/05/2024 20:14

Have loved Nina since Truly, Madly, Deeply.

GrandDesignsShame · 10/05/2024 20:17

I know a twenty something Nina who is beautiful and so clever, and a very cute 6 year old Norah and a ninety something Nora who is one of the most inspirational women I have ever met.

In short, both fantastic, both suit all ages IMO

And, not a fan of Nola!

Nina is pretty, underused and fairly classic. Nora is retro, hipster cool now - but everyone over a certain age in the UK will get an image of Nora Batty (and her tights).I much prefer Nina personally as it feels more timeless.

But I don’t think it matters that Nina Jean has repeated “ee” sounds ( or indeed that Nora Jean sounds like Norma Jean) as you aren’t going to be saying the middle name regularly -so I say go for either in that regard.

CaraDeLaVagine · 11/05/2024 00:24

Nina

poptartsuperfan · 11/05/2024 00:30

I love Norah but my DH vetoed it because of Norah Batty...

Needanewname42 · 11/05/2024 00:31

Nora Jean makes her sound like a very old lady. And I'm going to assume she's after her two Grandmother's or something.

DramaAlpaca · 11/05/2024 00:35

I'm not fond of either, but I like Jean as a vintage middle name.

I think Nina is too sweet and Nora too ugly. But I'd go Nora Jean over Nina Jean.

SleepPrettyDarling · 11/05/2024 00:40

Nina is very pretty. I love the name Nora now but it was considered a very old-fashioned name when I was younger.

shoopshoopdedoo · 11/05/2024 02:55

I like Nora, but love Nina. Nina Jean is a great name - the repeated sounds don’t bother me at all, if anything I think it’s quite sparky.

Sundaysunshine21 · 11/05/2024 11:09

Both are fine, I prefer Nina though, I think it’s less of the moment and sounds prettier.

Nicebloomers · 11/05/2024 12:05

Norah with an H

FayCarew · 11/05/2024 12:43

Nina. Norah is nicer than Nora. The middle name won't get used much.

useitorlose · 11/05/2024 12:58

I like Nina. One of the sisters in drama The Split was called it.

UsualChaos · 11/05/2024 15:45

Nora

RogueFemale · 11/05/2024 17:40

Nina. Or call her Venetia and have Nina as nn.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 11/05/2024 17:41

Nina

Notquitefinishe · 11/05/2024 17:43

Nina by a mile. I know a couple of Ninas under 10 and think it's very cute.

TallYellowMouse · 11/05/2024 17:55

Have you decided yet @firstlittlebub ?

notofthisWorld11 · 11/05/2024 17:58

Nora makes me think of Nora Batty - so kind of old-fashioned. I'd go Nina.

peaceinourtime · 12/05/2024 03:24

Noni
