Hi! We’re expecting triplets that we aren’t sure the genders of, and so we’re trying to figure out name sets for all possibilities. So far we have two girl names and a boy name that we love, but we are kind of stuck moving forward. We have:

Girl:

  1. Cecilia Renée
  2. Lucy Aurelia

Boy:

  1. Henry Austin

And that's all for first name & middle name combos. My grandmother's name was Marjorie and I would love to incorporate her name as either a first or a middle, whichever works better. I am thinking Sylvia (nn Sylvie, or just Sylvie?) might work very well, but do you think the girls names are too matchy? I'm not sure. Also thoughts on Sylvia Marjorie?

I also really like the nickname Romy, but I can't use any Rose names as my daughter's name is Rosalie Andrea, and I hate Romilly! What do you think of just Romy on its own? I think Cece, Lucy, and Romy could be quite sweet.

So far for girls we've got:

Lucy, Cecilia, Marjorie (Cece, Lucy, Jorie)
Lucy, Cecilia, Sylvia (Cece, Lucy, Sylvie)
Lucy, Cecilia, Romy (Cece, Lucy, Romy)

Now for boys, I just adore Jasper and Christopher but we aren't sure for middle names, so any suggestions you've got would be great! Thoughts on Dean? As in Jasper Dean, Christopher Dean. I also like Leo, but again not sure on a middle name. Also will take any opinions on Henry Austin that you may have! (Austin is my brothers name by the way)

Also just wondering for opinions - do you think the names go with my daughters? I mentioned before but her name is Rosalie Andrea (Andrea for my grandmother) and I just adore it, but I’m thinking it’s style is quite different to Cecilia Renée even though I think it’s gorgeous as well (Renée was my husbands grandmothers name). Not sure if I’m overthinking though.

Thank you in advance, and sorry for how much I've written 😅

Rosalie Andrea is beautiful. I also love Henry Austin and Cecilia Renee. I love that you have used family names for middle names, so I have no suggestions for other middle names - I’d use other Grandparents names etc for middles, if Leo and Dean are family names then great.

For first names I don’t love or hate Christopher or Jasper - possibly I’m just apathetic to them as I like Henry so much more, as it’s so classic. Equally I do like Sylvia, just not sure if I prefer the sound of Sylvie even more? 🤣Especially with Rosalie and Henry it sounds quite French chic (although that might make Cecilia feel left out - you could go Cecily instead though?) You could also go Sylvie Renée and Cecilia Majorie.

Majorie is a great middle but too retro for a first for me, Romy too nickname (Do you like uncommon but literary Romola? the only other name I can think of is Ramona but I’m not keen on that one) and I’ve personally always found Lucy a bit cutesy sounding for some reason.

Similar to Henry - Alexander, Edward, Thomas.

Similar to Rosalie - Juliet, Genevieve, Josephine.

Thank you for liking Rosalie Andrea! I think I might like Sylvie a tad bit more too, I just love the Sylvia Plath connection of the full name! Same with Cecilia, I was considering Cecily or Celia but I just love that Cecilia was the patron saint of music.

That is my issue with Romy, I just don't like any of the first names for it :( Someone had given me the idea to do first name Ro- second name Marjorie to get Romy and cover Marjorie that way, which I thought could be nice. I don't really like any Ro- names that aren't Rosalie unfortunately, but they mentioned maybe even something like Caroline? Not sure, but it's a possibility.

Tbh our other family names are either not great or all used to death by other family, so I was thinking we could get away with most of their names having family names and then some not 😅I was originally trying to only use family names, but after Austin, Andrea, Renée, and Aurelia (mash up of two names) we've kind of run dry. The only thing we can think of is Harold switched up as Harrison (because Harold has genuinely been used to death in our family!! Everyone has been having babies 😭)

Anyways, I really like Juliet!! Like the Juliette spelling as well, I used to know one Giuliette when I was in school, but that's the Italian spelling I believe.

As for the boy names - I see what you mean, about them up against Henry but I don't know, I've just always wanted a baby Jasper. I think it's just adorable, and DH reaaaally loves Christopher aka Kit. And it's also just so hard to fall in love equally with six different names!!

Jasper Harrison / Christopher Harrison? I quite like Jasper Harrison I think.

I love Lucy from your girls ideas. (I also love Rosalie!)

I like Romy and personally don’t think it needs to be short for anything. However, I’d consider if Rosalie might want to go by Rosie later on - you’d have Romy and Rosie? Romy sounds trendier / less classic than your other girls names to me, if that matters to you?

Cecilia is a bit long and frilly for my taste, but a perfectly good name and it goes nicely with your other choices. I’m personally not keen on the Cece shortening, especially with Lucy.

I’m not keen on Marjorie as a first name (a bit dated / dowdy). Sylvia also sounds quite dated to me, sorry. Sylvie is a bit better.

Do you like Alice or Clara? My imaginary triplet girls would be -
Alice, Lucy and Clara

Boys - I love Henry, Jasper and Christopher - all gorgeous and go perfectly together.

As for middle names - these are much less important imo - I’d get the first names sorted first then play with the middle names afterwards - all
the middle name options you’ve mentioned for boys / girls sound good to me.

LittleMissSleepyUK · 05/05/2024 08:29

Christopher Dean is a figure skater so expect that link if you do!

I think Jasper Harrison is lovely

trainboundfornowhere · 05/05/2024 09:25

I love Henry, Jasper and Christopher together though I have always preferred the nickname Kester to Kit for Christopher.

My imaginary triplet girls would be Lucy, Hazel and Phoebe. Lucy does work in a set with Caroline though. Maybe Lucy, Caroline and Alice.

Mumofgirls2017 · 05/05/2024 11:21

I like Romy but Sylvia works best overall by far imo

nice names. Dean I feel is dated prefer Leo and think works well; how about

Christopher magnus
christopher rex
christopher jude
christopher miles
christopher edward

jasper felix
jasper george
jasper elliott
jasper hugo
jasper william

DibbleDooDah · 05/05/2024 12:08

I know a grown up Jasper (a name I also love) but EVERYONE calls him Jas, sounding like Jazz. He hates it but it’s followed him everywhere he went so he’s kind of stuck with it.

Our boys name was going to be Casper Ned if that helps?

I think you should just go with Sylvie instead of Sylvia. It’s a beautiful name in its own right so why overcomplicate?

Also if you end up with three girls and you have shortened names for the other two then Lucy is going to feel a bit left out. She could be shortened to “Luce” but that sounds like loose………….

I like all of your names apart from Christopher. Again, why overcomplicate things and not just call him Kit? A great name in its own right.

BurbageBrook · 05/05/2024 12:09

I see 'Cecilia' as quite a 'fancy' name, though I like it a lot, and Lucy as quite a simple and plain name. So if you have a third girl I'd choose a simple third name rather than another long term one. Only because I can imagine the Lucy in a trio of Cecilia, Sylvia and Lucy perhaps finding her name to be less special.

NuffSaidSam · 05/05/2024 12:16

The girls names are very sweet. I'm not keen on Marjorie, but I like Lucy, Cece Romy and Sylvie. Do you think Lucy is going to be upset that she doesn't get a grown up name and a cutsey nickname like her sisters though?

I like Henry and Jasper. I think Christopher is really boring compared to all the other names you have (although Kit is sweet).

TomJonesHuhhh · 05/05/2024 12:41
  1. Cecilia Renée
  2. Lucy Aurelia
  3. Romy Marjorie
  1. Henry Austin
  2. Christopher Harrison
  3. Jasper Dean
Pieceofpurplesky · 05/05/2024 13:32

Henry, Jasper and Kit is a fabulous trio of names

Romy is nice but seems quite popular here, as does Rome (I know of about 5 babies recently with either). Romilly?

Cecilia, Lucy and Beatrice?
Cecilia, Lucy and Gabrielle?

user1492757084 · 05/05/2024 14:17

Cecilia Renee
Lucy Aurelia
Rowena Marjorie

Henry Austin
Christopher Dean
Jasper Harry

AmberGuide · 05/05/2024 17:31

I think I'm off of Romy even though I love it because Rosalie does go by Rosie occasionally and that might be a little much I think. I think Alice is lovely but it doesn't hit me the way other names do, and they've got a very close cousin named Claire unfortunately, so Clara is out as well.

I think I'm between Sylvie/Sylvia and maybe Juliet/Juliette?

Cecilia, Juliet/te, Lucy

or, for those saying maybe Lucy is too nicknamey -

Cecilia, Juliet, Sylvie/a

I'm still in between Sylvie and Sylvia, because I do like Sylvie better and I think I'd primarily refer to her using it, but I think Sylvia is pretty as well and I like it's flow with Marjorie. Also I understand peoples qualms with Lucy after I've read them all but I don't know I just find it so sweet 😭thoughts on maybe Lily instead? All of the Lucy's I've ever known have been just lovely which may add to my attachment to it.

I think I prefer Christopher to Kit just slightly, because while I do think Kit is very lovely Christopher just hits my heart a little differently, not sure why. Someone suggested either Christopher Lane, or Christopher Reid. I don't mind Christopher Dean either but I almost wish I could call him Christopher Robin!

So anyways, thoughts on Juliette as a substitution for either Lucy or Sylvie? And spelling as well - Juliet or Juliette? I normally think the -ette names are too frilly but I think in this case I might like it. They read differently to me almost.

Jasper Harrison, Henry Austin, and Christopher Dean (?).

Cecilia Renée and either:

Juliet, Juliette, Sylvie, Sylvia, Lucy

with middle names Marjorie, Aurelia, etc

I think I might like Cecilia, Lucy, Juliette, and I think they all sound pretty with Rosalie. I don't think Juliette Marjorie or Juliet Marjorie goes, unfortunately.

I love Lucy, Cecilia and Juliet. I have a Lucy and she is just lovely - I don’t think it sounds nicknamey at all! Sylvia I’m just not quite as keen on personally.

I think you’ve got your boys names spot on - love them!

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/05/2024 19:13

How about Margot Juliette

BurbageBrook · 05/05/2024 19:14

I actually love Sylvia. I think it's gorgeous.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 05/05/2024 23:23

For me it would be Cecilia Renee, Juliet Marjorie and Sylvie Aurelia. Or you could swop to Cecilia Majorie and Juliet Renee - I think either are fine.

Christopher Dean reminds me of the ice skater but that’s not really a big deal. I like Christopher with the nn Kit . Christopher Robin would be fun 🤣

Jasper is okay - less keen as no lovely nn ( Jaz isn’t my cup of tea) , but then I suppose Sylvie doesn’t have one either and I love that, so 🤷‍♀️I always think Nathaniel is a nice match with Christopher?

I think the full name Nathaniel is quite nice, but unfortunately I have terrible ties to a Nathan, and just don't like the nickname Nate (which I feel is inevitable)
