What are your thoughts on Hallie?
It's very different to my other top name which is currently Athena.
But in honour of my Dad there was a boys name he loved that is Scandinavian Norse with a very similar meaning and I'm tied between using that and a name personal to me for the middle name. But thought it would honour him - he disliked his name so don't really want to use that and think he'd approve more of this.
Hallie is Scandinavian Norse and a very similar meaning to the boys name (they are completely different names), but I wondered if this would be a nice way to honour name Dad if baby is a girl.
What do you think?
Just to add one son has middle name Harry. So not sure if too close to use?

Love Hallie. Gorgeous name.

I know 2 people who have spelt their daughters names both Halle and Hali. Same pronunciation.

I really like it!

The only thing is that it looks and sounds like a shortened version of something else - Harriet? - but that's not necessarily a problem.

it is Scandi but the meaning is a little random - flat stone.
I don't get how Nameberry got "dweller in the meadow by the manor". i s that the meaning you were going for OP?
What is the boy's name and the meaning?

@SunnyFog , Nameberry probably used the meaning of the surname Halley.

I prefer the spelling Halley, and like Hadley.

Halley is a surname I think as in Halley's comet.

I mean I love it but I did call my daughter Hallie so I'm probably bias!
Having said that it has become so popular recently and when I named my daughter I didn't know or hear anyone else call their child the same name. Now I hear it a fair bit!
So if you dont care about popularity then go for it!
I think it's beautiful

MolkosTeenageAngst · 05/05/2024 20:36

II like it and much nicer than Athena which sounds both harsh and pretentious to me.
