Dh and I can't agree and keep going back and forth.

Joseph. Beautiful name x

Joseph

Is the child even born yet?
Not sure why you would name someone you've never met. Do you pick out pet names before you buy the pet?

Wait till he's born then decide. He might not look like a Joseph or a Jacob.

And if he is born and you can't choose...then,he's neither, pick another name.

Most people pick out baby names before the baby is here, my dc look nothing like they did as babies.
She's asking people's preferences on the names, if you don't have a preference to offer, move along.

I really love Joseph, it's a lovely strong name.

My son is Jacob but personally I would choose Joseph. When I named my son over 40 years ago there were zero Jacobs anywhere. Everyone thought I'd lost my mind picking such an old fashioned name and some people even laughted at it. Now I hear Jacob everywhere. They are both good, strong names but Joseph is much less common and it is lovely.

Joseph - very handsome and underused right now.. Joe is a great nick name.

Jacob is fine though I dislike Jake.

WrongSortOfPoster · 02/05/2024 13:57

@bodminbeast , who made you thread prefect? @Pinkbonbon has a point.
Both names are good, but have a similar vibe, and when the baby arrives he (or she) might not suit either of them.

CurlewKate · 02/05/2024 14:23

Joseph.

EbonyandIvory22 · 02/05/2024 14:31

Jake would be my first choice but if you're only giving it as a nickname for Jacob then Joseph

NetMum2 · 02/05/2024 15:05

Joseph

Joey?

For some reason, I always think of this being associated with budgies...🤐

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 02/05/2024 20:24

I much prefer Jacob/jake to Joseph. There seem to a lot of Joes about.

Sunriseorange · 02/05/2024 20:24

Joseph

Starbugg · 02/05/2024 20:26

We had the same dilemma. Ended up choosing a different first name and using Joseph as a middle name!

needlesandhaystacks · 02/05/2024 20:28

I have a Joseph and he gets the full name but also Joe, Joey and JoJo. He suits them all 😊

BoleynMemories13 · 02/05/2024 22:51

I like both. I slightly prefer Jacob as a full name, but I much prefer the shortening of Joe compared to Jake.

I don't think you can go wrong with either though.

LAvortonDeLaLitière · 02/05/2024 22:53

Joseph. Love this name.
