Which of these options do you prefer?

Surname is Rickman

If neither, any other Ideas with a similar theme?

Ernest. Perfect name

Potatomashed · 30/04/2024 14:58

Eldred sounded female to me

TallulahBetty · 30/04/2024 15:01

Are you ok? These are terrible

Nicebloomers · 30/04/2024 15:24

Love Ernest. If someone handed me a baby boy that’s the name I’d choose.

My thoughts too!

Dfg15 · 30/04/2024 15:25

Both awful, sorry

ScubaDivingSpiderMonkey · 30/04/2024 15:27

Put your feet up and have a cuppa and a some nice biscuits.

This madness will pass.

What about Edward or Elliott?

Moreteaandchocolate · 30/04/2024 15:43

Sorry I dislike both.

How about

Eliis
Elliot
Ethan
Ewan
Douglas / Dougie
Leonard / Leo
Gilbert / Gil
Ralph / Ralphy
Reginald / Reggie
Robert / Bobby

raspberryberet7 · 30/04/2024 16:05

Sorry but they're both dreadful

amymel2016 · 30/04/2024 16:06

Love Ernest

WorriedWife3 · 30/04/2024 16:10

Ernest is lovely and goes well with your surname. He could also be Ernie/Ern which fits well with the fashion for granddadish names.

Eldred is a lot to put on a child.

CJ0374 · 30/04/2024 16:14

Eldred- I don't like a name with 'dread' pronounced in it 😬
Ernest- Sounds like a 90yr old, but maybe its due a comeback?
Do you like the E sound or the older man type name?

Elliott
Edward
Arthur
Albert
William
James
Elias
Evan
Eli

BubziOwl · 30/04/2024 16:16

Ernest, 100%

GoodVibesHere · 30/04/2024 16:16

Eldred for a girl, Ernest for a boy.

There are so many nice names to choose from OP, why pick these.

lightsactionsleep · 30/04/2024 16:18

Eldred sounds like Mildred.

Ernest is the better of them, he'll get Ernie.

I wonder when Barry will make a come back.

CheesexCrackers · 30/04/2024 16:18

I'm my defence I'm cooped up with the worse morning sickness and thought they sounded nice.... We have considered Edward but these just came to me

JadeSheep · 30/04/2024 16:19

Sorry, I don't like either

DoloresDelEriba · 30/04/2024 16:20

Both are a no from me.

Edward
Edgar
Elliott
Alan

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 30/04/2024 16:20

Not Eldred.

’Ellie’ as a shortening? Which is what would happen. For a boy? Nah.

Growlybear83 · 30/04/2024 16:21

Sorry but they're both horrendous names.

Bipbopbee · 30/04/2024 16:35

Eldred... I'm picturing a baby holding a Saxon shield and wielding a sword.

Ernest... Ernie is cute but again I'm picturing a flat cap wearing baby, with a shed full of racing pigeons and a whippet or two in tow.

I wouldn't like to receive reply as this, as I don't think Ernest is "madness". You're not talking truth either, you just shared rude opinion. There's no "truth" in opinion, opinions can't be true or false.

I don't want to say Eldred is bad name, because it will just be mine opinion, and I think it's Scandinavian or Welsh name. But I like Ernest better.
