What are your thoughts about girls name Sofia Matilda?

My other names are all top ten so popularity doesn't worry me. I prefer names that are less likely to be shortened and for this reason, I've got reservations about Eloise. Matilda was the name I chose for my older children but I don't like the shortened versions, but wanted to keep the name is some capacity.

The other options would be Rose Matilda. But Rose doesn't feel like it would work in Spain/Greece. Or Lucia Summer but don't know if Summer makes it a bit down market.

Thank you 😊

I think it's lovely.

Are you intending to double barrel the name or is Mathilda the middle name? I think if it’s the middle name Sofia Mathilda is ok, but you’ll rarely be using both names like that, if you’re intending for that to be one name it’s a bit of a mouthful.

I think Mathilda Rose works better than the other way round, not keen on Summer.

I personally don't like Sophia Matilda because they both end in A. Its just sounds like its a rhyme. 1 ending in A is fine, but not both. In saying that though, 99% of the time she will just be 1st name and surname.
I also prefer Matilda Rose and so like Summer.
What about Rosa? That works in Spanish too.

Sofia Matilda is beautiful! Anyone would love to have that name. I also really like Lucia Summer - I don’t think it’s downmarket at all. Rose Matilda is also lovely. Go with your heart - they are all lovely names :)

I mean it’s fine, I don’t think anything more than that tbh. I don’t personally like Matilda.

I agree with pp, it's a bit much to have 2 names ending in a. We have dds with first names ending in a but middle name doesn't, it sounds more balanced that way.

OopsieeDaisy · 28/04/2024 22:32

Agree with pp, I wouldn’t personally have two names ending in a as they don’t quite sound right together. Sophie Matilda would flow better. I also love Lucia but not so keen on Summer. I do think that most names could potentially end up being shortened though - Sofia = Soph, Lucia = Luce.

Heatedblanky · 28/04/2024 23:59

I like both Sofia and Matilda, but I don’t think they sound good together. How about Sofia Rose?
