Love it, think it's beautiful

KirstenBlest · 23/04/2024 21:03

Boy or girl? I'd think boy and tine like in fork.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 23/04/2024 21:09

I really like this name, I'd probably nn CeCe which I also really like.

WeightoftheWorld · 23/04/2024 21:11

Bit random but I just read a (really excellent) fiction book called Attic Child I think it was, and the main character is a child trafficked from the Congo in the early 1900s and is given this name in Britain. It's the only time I'd ever heard the name too.

I like it .. but either way is it pronounced cel est teen or cel est tine . . I like either

tsmainsqueeze · 23/04/2024 21:12

The former. And definitely a girl name.

’The Celestine Prophecy’ does put me off a bit as I’m not the slightest bit New Age. I’m glad nobody has mentioned that so far.

Too frilly

Cecille
Cecily

Much better

FangsForTheMemory · 23/04/2024 21:36

I prefer Cecily. It is my favourite atm.

minipie · 23/04/2024 21:38

A bit too much for me, I’d go for Celeste, Celine, Cecile or Cecily instead. Really like Celine.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 23/04/2024 21:49

I prefer Celeste, but there is nothing wrong with Celestine. Bit different to Clementine, which is more popular.

Those are all girls names. Celestine is a boy's name.

minipie · 23/04/2024 22:05

Ah sorry wouldn’t have guessed it was a boy’s name! Clearly pp had the same impression as they’ve also suggested girls’ name alternative.

I 100% would not call a boy Celestine.

Moreteaandchocolate · 23/04/2024 22:27

It’s ok if it’s for a girl, but a bit frilly for my taste. I definitely wouldn’t use it for a boy.

Aglassaday · 24/04/2024 09:52

I absolutely love the name Celeste I think it’s so gorgeous and one of my favourites!

the only thing with Celestine is it reminds me of intestines😅

Davionar · 24/04/2024 09:53

One of my choices, had I had a girl

See I think Cecilly is as frilly as it can get!

FlyingUnderTheRadar · 24/04/2024 09:56

I know an older Celestine and her nn is “Tiny”😍

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 24/04/2024 10:02

From my brief googling, it can be used for a boy or a girl but I really wouldn’t use it for a boy. It’s not to my taste for a girl either as it’s a bit faffy and I like short names that can’t be shortened. I like the NN Cece though.

WildCherryBlossom · 24/04/2024 10:03

Prophecy was my first thought.

I prefer Celeste as a name.

theduchessofspork · 24/04/2024 14:22

It’s too frilly for me, but it’s alright

Cecile?

Francisflute · 24/04/2024 17:44

Bit much fuss for my taste, it feels drawn out. I prefer Celeste.

DolceGustoooohCoffee · 24/04/2024 17:45

Very feminine

BodyKeepingScore · 24/04/2024 17:47

Bit too fussy for my tastes. I just can't visualise using it to address a baby.

Holstomorrow · 24/04/2024 20:59

Yes - do it!
