Not particularly popular at the moment so wondering what springs to mind for people.
Also liking Amber, so clearly have a thing for two syllable 'Am' names. Any other names to throw in the ring?

Amy is one of my favourite names! I wanted to used it but was vetoed! It’s so short, simple, pretty for all ages. Even though it’s not as popular as it used to be, I think it fits really well with the modern trend for short, vowelly names for girls, so I think it’s due a come back!

I also love Amber for similar reasons, but Amy edges it for me as it’s got a more traditional feel, which is more my usual taste.

My sister is Aimee and I was always jealous that she got the nicer name. 😂

I really like Amy and it's quite unusual now.

Not so keen on Amber.

I’ve long thought it was due a comeback. It was so popular in the early 80’s.

I've never loved Amy but I think of Amy Turtle and Ames on Corrie.
It's OK and I like the Little Women association but prefer Meg and Josephine as names.Smile
Don't like Amy spelt as Aimee, Amey or Amie.

I have one, a different spelling, she’s nearly 40, still a great name.

I don’t like Amber at all, infact all the Ambers I know are not very nice.

Amy was my bully at school in the 80s - a vile person who has yet to move on from that playground mentality - so the name is tainted for me.

Amber is lovely though!

I love Amy. Only that spelling, though.

Amber, not so much. It's very 90s.

Amy is a great name. Classic, simple and strong. I don’t mind Amber but prefer Amy.

I'm 35 and there were so many in my year in school. Also one was a real bully and apparently is still not a nice person which would put me off

Same here there were so so many Amy's and Aimee's at my school and it's the only thing that could put me off.
I suppose being an 'off cycle' Amy would make it slightly different though. Hmm

It won't be the case for this generation though.

According to Dark Greener Amy was the 285th most popular name in 2021. So it's not extremely rare, not like calling your daughter Janet, for example, but definitely no longer a commonly used name.
