A name like Jane, but not Jane.

And by like Jane, I don't mean Jenna or Joan or Jake!

I mean that sort of name. A simple, old fashioned, pretty, girl's name.

Kate or Clara? Annie? Alice? I think that's the sort of name I mean, but I can't think of the right one.

Something beginning with C or K would work well.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Adam didn't have much luck with his wives then did he? Lilith being 'possessed' and Eve got him thrown out of Eden .

I quite like the name Lilith although at the moment, I'm slightly obsessed with the name Phyllis. I'm not even TTC .

I think Susan is really due for a revival. Must be Susan though, not Sue. (Nothing against Sue, but it doesn't have that Swallows and Amazons ring to it).

LaComtesse · 30/03/2008 20:38

Susannah is a nice name but maybe a bit too old-fashioned.

We have a Klara (spelt with a K and said like Tara as she is half German).

DD2 due in three weeks will be Astrid, Lily, Lotte, or Ursula (depending on what she looks like!).

I really like Elizabeth, C/Katherine and Margaret as all three can be shortened to lots of simple classic names Beth,Ellie,Libby... Kate,Kath, Kathy... Meg, Maggie, Greta - but can use the long name should it suit her more...

I have an Alexandra Diana

stirlingmum · 31/03/2008 16:47

We wanted an "old fashioned style" name and went with Isabel. We shorten it to Izzy.
Where we live there aren't many others so quite unusual still.
This spelling is the English version but there are spanish, french and scottish versions.

Nobody ever calls their baby Sarah now do they?

KateF · 31/03/2008 16:56

I'm a Catherine and, while I don't dislike it, I always have to spell it because there are so many variations. My dds have quite old-fashioned names (Isabella, Susannah, Philippa) although Isabella is becoming popular now. My favourite is Mary but dh insisted it was too old-fashioned so i gave it to dd2 as a middle name. Also like Anne, Lily, Rose, Grace, Hope

BINAH · 31/03/2008 17:56

I have a arah and I love it..I just spell it sara, though....
