Help - stuck on a middle name!

We’ve finally chosen our boys name; Jonah. Before people come at me with the bad luck association - we’re aware, not superstitious so we’re not bothered by it ☺️ Thank you to everyone who commented and voted on my previous post as it did actually help with our decision! I think we were both already swaying towards Jonah and just needed a little push, but as we aren’t telling any family or friends before he is here we couldn’t get that from them.

Next dilemma is we are really struggling with a middle name. I’ve seen a few comments on here regarding Jonah being a “wet” name, so not sure whether to look for a stronger middle name or to stick with the softer sounding ones. I personally don’t see it being a wet name, to me it gives similar vibes to Noah, Elijah, Arlo just without the popularity - but maybe I’m just biased!

Names we have thrown into the mix are:
Jonah Theodore
Jonah Isaac
Jonah Arlo
Jonah Blue
Jonah Bowie (I think the nickname Joey Bowie would be inevitable, but I don’t hate it 🤣)
Jonah James
Jonah Bobby
Jonah Elijah

Would love any opinions or some suggestions if you have any, and thanks again to anyone who helped on the last post 🥰

I would avoid starting with a vowel, Arlo is overused and Blue is rubbish, sorry!!

Theodore is nice, aa is James - quite a good opportunity for a classic name as a middle name. Jonah is a great name but actually a little hard to pair up with a middle name!

I would pick something with one or 3 syllables e.g

Jonah Charles
Jonah Christopher
Jonah Dominic

Don’t be sorry - we need honest opinions!

I think Theodore is probably my favourite, although I heard my DH saying it the other day and realised he pronounce it Feodore, which I must admit put me off it slightly 😂

I like Jonah Isaac.

Some of the suggestions depend on your surname and how many syllables it is but I prefer a single syllable or several syllable middle name...

Jonah Flynn
Jonah Charles
Jonah Sebastián
Jonah Benjamin
Jonah Samuel

BlueChampagne · 08/04/2024 13:16

I'm not generally a fan of shortened names, but Jonah Jack has a ring to it, and JJ isn't bad as a nickname.

Theoldwoman · 08/04/2024 14:24

My GS is Jonah Regan.

Suggestions:

Jonah Bartholomew
Jonah Richard
Jonah Sebastian
Jonah Zachary
Jonah Benjamin
Jonah Francis
Jonah Michael
Jonah Thomas

Jonah Theodore is perfect!

I agree that I prefer a middle name starting with a consonant.

Love pp suggestion of Jonah Sebastian and Jonah Benjamin

Jonah William
Jonah Christopher

I think Jonah is a great name, and I like your list of possible middle names.

My favourites are
Jonah Theodore
Jonah Isaac
Jonah Elijah

Cotswoldmama · 08/04/2024 17:55

I like Theodore, to me the other names just don't go, they're too short, so don't flow as well.

ClickyHeels · 08/04/2024 18:15

Jonah Theodore - not keen
Jonah Blue - no
Jonah Bowie - no
Jonah James - no, too J-heavy and James is overused as a middle name
Jonah Bobby - no
Jonah Elijah - a bit too rhymey
Jonah Isaac - best one
Jonah Arlo - doesn't flow

I'd go for a family name or a name starting with a consonant e.g
Jonah Frank, Jonah Michael or Jonah Patrick

theduchessofspork · 09/04/2024 01:07

I love Jonah, and it’s definitely not wet

Jonah Theodore is the one I like best - Jonah Theo works too
Jonah Issac is nice
Jonah Arlo is ok

No to Blue, Bobby or Bowie - they make him sound like 2 members of a boy band, the alliteration of James sounds daft, Elijah is too many uh sounds

Unless you are very Christian I might avoid two very biblical names - by which I mean Daniel, which is so popular it doesn’t have a strong biblical flavour so doesn’t sound too OTT but Jonah Abraham does

Jonah Rufus
Jonah Rory
Jonah Magnus
Jonah Leon
Jonah Louis
Jonah Franklin
Jonah Francis
Jonah Lachlan
Jonah Daniel
Jonah Michael
Jonah Samuel
Jonah Philip
Jonah Robert
Jonah Edward
Jonah Cassius
Jonah Augustus
Jonah Ignatius
Jonah Elliot

I love Jonah James
