Hi all, excepting a baby girl and have a son named Louis. Our list of girls names is very long and we need helping narrowing it down.
Here's our list

  • Adeline
  • Amelie
  • Annabel
  • Annalise
  • Camille/Camilla
  • Cassia
  • Clara
  • Emmeline
  • India
  • Isabelle
  • Sasha

I think Cassia or Camille are my favourites but DH loves Adeline.

Any thoughts, opinions or other ideas?

We have a really similar taste in names! Lots of these are on my list as well!

Love:
Amelie
Clara
Sasha
Isabelle (but prefer the less frilly Isabel spelling)

Like:
Annalise
India
Camille

Dislike:
Adeline
Annabel (too childish for when she grows up)
Cassia (love Cassie though!)
Camilla
Emmeline

PurpleReindeer2 · 07/04/2024 14:07

From your list my favourites are

Louis and Emmeline
and
Louis and Annabel (Anna)

Moreteaandchocolate · 07/04/2024 14:27

Lovely list! I love the name Louis too!

My favourite is Clara - gorgeous, classic and classy
Love - Annabel, Cassia, Annalise and Adeline.
Lovely names but with some possible issues that may or may not matter to you- Amelie & Emmeline (both could be confused with Emily?), Sasha (can be a diminutive of Alexander), Isabelle (too popular?), India (I think if the country)
Camille / Camilla - not keen at all, personally

In case you want any other ideas -

Caroline (Carrie / Callie)
Celeste
Nicole
Jasmine
Emilia
Estelle
Carmen
Alara
Elowen
Amaya
Alyssa

Clara is sometimes pronounced Clahr-a or Clair-a. How do you pronounce Cassia or Camille? They both have various pronunciations.
My favorite is Emmeline

FayCarew · 07/04/2024 15:36

Adeline - I don't like it, is it Addle-ine or Addle-een?
Amelie - dated. Emily is nicer
Annabel - ok but just Anna is nicer
Annalise - ok but just Anna is nicer
Camille/Camilla - ok but i don't like Cam
Cassia - Cassie-a or Cass-ee-a? Cassie is nicer
Clara - I don't like it, prefer Cara. It's quite nice said as Claira.
Emmeline - ok but just Emma is so much nicer
India - just no
Isabelle - Isabelle and Isabella overused
Sasha - like

Camilla is the winner for me. I would have liked Emma or Emily, Isobel or Cassandra.

Judging by OP’s name list she wants timeless classics. Your suggestions were quite the opposite - that isn’t rude, it’s just fact. One of those may be your granddaughter’s name which is fine if that’s the style her parents were going for.

Emmeline is lovely.

Can I ask why?

OP posts:
FayCarew · 07/04/2024 19:29

Not the person you asked but Adeline makes me think of addled, add-a-line and Adelie penguins.
Cassia - horrid little spicy sticks

Emmeline - Pankhurst

Twazique · 07/04/2024 19:33

Love Adeline, also like Adelaide and Adaline.

HoHoHoliday · 07/04/2024 19:40

My top three from your list are,

Adeline
Annalise
Emmeline

LouMoui · 07/04/2024 19:10

Showing my age but Adeline was the name of the daughter in Bread. She wanted to be a 'mogel' and teetered about in high heels and mini skirts.

Cassia sounds like a sugar substitute.

Viewfrommyhouse · 07/04/2024 19:42

Clara is the only decent choice out of that list.
