Daphne, Thea or Ada?

Baby girl is here and we’re still deciding between Daphne, Thea or Ada as a first name.

Middle name will likely be Iris.

Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

I like Daphne better than Thea or Ada, but I think Thea Iris sounds better.

MissyB1 · 06/04/2024 10:37

Daphne for sure! It’s prettier than the other two, plus there are loads of Theas and Adas around at the moment - I work in Early years.

Daphne

Thea

Love love Daphne

miles ahead of the other two names

Daphne! Daphne Iris is beautiful!
Congratulations!

JaneSeymourTheOnlyOneHeTrulyLoved · 06/04/2024 11:00

I like Thea, even though it’s more popular but it goes really well with Iris. Iris Thea sounds great too.

Ada is slightly too old lady vibes and Daphne is a bit wet lettuce and makes me think of Daffy Duck.

Moreteaandchocolate · 06/04/2024 11:10

Thea is my favourite! Love Thea Iris. I also love Ada - it doesn’t go quite as well with Iris but that wouldn’t bother me personally.

Daphne is a bit of a marmite name imo, I do like it personally, but I also understand why some people would think Daffy Duck etc and so that would probably put me off.

HoldingTheDoor · 06/04/2024 11:13

Thea by far then Ada. Daphne is such an unpleasant and unattractive name.

WaltzingWaters · 06/04/2024 11:16

Ada is my favourite, lovely name, although very popular at the moment.
Daphne second choice.
Although I think Thea sounds best with Iris. So maybe that wasn’t a helpful answer, sorry 😂

LizzieBet14 · 06/04/2024 11:18

Thea

MissedItByThisMuch · 06/04/2024 11:20

Thea. Love it. Thea Iris sounds great.

Berlinlover · 06/04/2024 11:22

Definitely Thea it’s a beautiful name. I’m not keen on the other two at all.

Thislife1 · 06/04/2024 11:27

Thanks for all your thoughts. We love each of the names, so it’s not an easy choice.

I like the idea I heard here (read) go to Starbucks and say the name and then wait till they call it out to see how it sounds

I think Thea/Theo and Ada are overdone, and Daphne is a bit Daffy Duck, so..

How about Ida?

KirstenBlest · 06/04/2024 12:40

Daphne but Daphne Iris is a bit too flowery.

ConsuelaHammock · 06/04/2024 13:16

Thea or Ada. What about Theodora?

GrandparentIssues · 06/04/2024 13:24

I like Thea best but I love Daphne too. I think Daphne Iris sounds better than Thea Iris, contrary to everyone else 😂 Nothing wrong with Ada but it’s a bit bland. I really love Theodora that a PP suggested too. Theodora Iris sounds beautiful!

Theoldwoman · 06/04/2024 14:20

Ada Iris.

ontheflighttosingapore · 06/04/2024 14:48

Thea is beautiful

AmaryllisChorus · 06/04/2024 14:56

I love Thea (and Theodora with Thea for short.
Daphne makes me think of Frasier.
Ada sounds ugly to me, but Ada Lovelace was a phenomenal woman, so it has good connotations. Adie is cute.

emeraldsapphire · 06/04/2024 15:02

I love Thea. I know someone with a Daphne and it always sounds grating when she says it.

peaceinourtime · 06/04/2024 15:49

Daphne 100 percent
