My name is Astrid and I don't like it, so I vote Matilda! Don't hear it often, it's strong yet soft, has good nickname options...

My DD is Penelope and DS would have been Matilda had he been a girl so I vote Matilda!

Matilda is great - it’s strong and cool sounding!

Astrid is ugly. Reminds me of ass and astringent.

Penelope is a bit blah. Penny is a sweet though.

Petra is quite cool. Unusual but not wacky. A grown up name.

I like Zelda but there's the video game link, which might be a positive for some people!

Both Matilda & Astrid are quite upper middle class names. I picture blonde hair, blue eyes, tall, slim & posh ☺️ Horsey, private school types.
Love both but voting Matilda.
I know a child & an adult Matilda, both come from very affluent backgrounds, adult Matilda is German.
I know of an Astrid through a friend, very well spoke & posh, know to friends as Asti..

Matilda is really popular and a little over-done. Astrid is lovely and more unusual.

I like Matilda. I’ve never been keen on Astrid for some reason. I think it has quite a harsh sound to it, maybe?

Matilda! Biased as it’s my daughters name but Astrid isn’t very pretty, sounds clunky.

I love Astrid, it will be our choice if we have another DD.

Like Matilda and also Matilde.

I like Petra, also Phaedra if you’re looking for new contenders.

I like Astrid but I think it’s a very ‘specific’ type of name that can’t suit everyone. Gives me free spirit bookworm nature lover vibes. But she might grow up to be a butch rugby head and then it wouldn’t suit.

Astrid, Matilda and Penelope are all lovely. I'd see what she looks like out of those 3 and how it fits with middle names/ last names I'd also think about nicknames and how you feel about Penny, Tilly/Tilda/ Mattie and if there is a shortening you'd want for Astrid?

Petra and Zelda are much less nice.
