Beautiful name

bluedelphiniums · 02/04/2024 21:26

Lovely.

SkaneTos · 02/04/2024 21:29

Beautiful name!

GoodVibesHere · 02/04/2024 21:30

I prefer Theadora.

Moreteaandchocolate · 02/04/2024 21:38

It’s quite a nice name, but I prefer Thea, as I have a personal preference for shorter names.

Zampa · 02/04/2024 21:39

Your baby name is lovely, OP.

Dear Theodosia from Hamilton is a beautiful song about a baby girl, so I'd pick slightly differently but not my kid!

lavenderjump · 02/04/2024 21:42

Love it, beautiful name!

RuthW · 02/04/2024 21:43

Lovely

Crowgirl · 02/04/2024 21:47

I personally avoided famously tragic names so wouldn't for that reason, but there are so many beautiful Greek names and Juliets about so not really a reason not to if you don't mind.

I love it but find Olive as the middle name a bit of a mouthful with the round sound of Theodora. How about a different middle name?

Theadora Violet
Theadora Rose
Theodora Iris

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 02/04/2024 21:52

Theodora was a very clever woman who rose from being a child prostitute to a very effective and respected Empress.

so, pretty good, really.

Our surname is Rose, so finding it really difficult to find a suitable yet strong middle name

BigPandaTinyDragon · 02/04/2024 22:20

That’s tricky then because you’ve got the ‘ruh’ sound at the end of Theodora then the ‘r’ of rose, to me it sounds a bit of a mouthful although it is a pretty name.

Flapearedknave · 02/04/2024 22:26

Oh I love theadora rose!

Tezza1 · 02/04/2024 22:27

Absolutely love it. Always have ever since I first visited Ravenna and saw the wonderful Byzantine mosaics depicting the Empress Theodora.

LauderSyme · 02/04/2024 22:31

Theodora is lovely but am not at all keen on Olive, sorry.

Charlotte, Catherine, Caitlin and Verity all roll nicely as a middle name.

VivienneDelacroix · 02/04/2024 22:43

Theodora is a beautiful name. And if you like Olive go for it.
Theodora is the traditional spelling and far nicer I think.

Kingpin90 · 02/04/2024 22:44

It’s a lovely name. I also went straight to the ‘Dear Theodora’ from Hamilton. Love that song.

FangsForTheMemory · 02/04/2024 22:49

I love Theodora but am less keen on Olive.

DramaAlpaca · 02/04/2024 22:49

I prefer Olive Theodora as it flows better. Theodora is a bit fussy for me and I don't like any of the diminutives. Theadora is just an incorrect spelling.

But that's not what you asked, OP, so just ignore me.

Gia6 · 03/04/2024 17:30

I really love Theodora but agree you need a shortish middle name to balance it - and nothing else floral - otherwise it’s a bit of a mouthful. I don’t think Olive ‘goes’. Theodora has ancient Greek origins of course whereas Olive feels quite… underwhelming? next to it. Although still a nice name!

Something like Theodora Grace Rose.
Theodora Eve Rose.

I also love the name Juno which I think has similar connotations of impressive historical/mythological women. Would Theodora Juno work? Or maybe a potential sibling name. 🤔😉

Congratulations!

Kitkat1523 · 03/04/2024 18:01

It’s too much of a mouthful ….I like Olive tho

ScubaDivingSpiderMonkey · 03/04/2024 22:19

I'll be the voice of dissent but I find Theodora to be very clunky and unappealing. Wouldn't be thrilled if it were my name.

FayCarew · 04/04/2024 12:16

I don't like Theodora or Thea. Olive and Rose are two colours or a colour and a flower. An olive green rose wouldn't be very pretty.
