My waters have just broken 6 weeks early and I’m in hospital and we are now in a fluster over boys names since it looks like we’ll have to decide sooner than we thought! We had Lucas near the top of the list, also on it were:
Leo
Sebastian
Luca
Raffi
Benji
Cruz
Louie
Frederick (Freddy)

sitting in my hospital bed Googling Lucas as a name, I have just read that Lucia is the feminine version. And our second daughter is called Lucia so this has really out a spanner in the works. If someone had kids called Lucia and Lucas, would you think that’s silly and think they are the same name or too similar??!! Also opinions on all of the other names please!! Thankuuuuuu

My son is Lucas and I love it but I do think it's very close to your daughters name

Peppermint81 · 01/04/2024 22:05

Too similar I think. From your list I like Sebastian

Twinklydreamer22 · 01/04/2024 22:05

I think lucas and lucia is lovely!

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 01/04/2024 22:05

You can’t have Lucas and Lucia

Hellocatshome · 01/04/2024 22:07

Lucas is too close to Lucia. I like Sebastian or Frederick.

Matthew54 · 01/04/2024 22:07

Louis, Sebastian, or Freddie are all lovely. Louis and Sebastian would work best with Lucia.

theduchessofspork · 01/04/2024 22:11

Too similar - as is Louis

I’d go for Sebastian

Hope it all goes well tonight

User85468 · 01/04/2024 22:12

I think Lucas and Lucia are too similar - I think Luca and Louie might also be too similar although they are lovely names!

Frederick, Sebastian or Raffy (not keen on the Raffi spelling) are my personal favourites from your list.

GoodVibesHere · 01/04/2024 22:13

Too similar. I'd go Sebastian, or Spencer

Newsenmum · 01/04/2024 22:15

How do you pronounce Lucia? I don’t think it matters if you like it. I love Sebastian from your list.

Moreteaandchocolate · 01/04/2024 22:23

I think Lucas and Lucia are too similar.
My favourites from your list to go with Lucia, are Sebastian and Frederick. I also like Raffi as short for Rafael or Benji if short for Benjamin. Leo, Luca and Louie are a little similar to Lucia to me.

UltramarineViolet · 01/04/2024 22:28

I wouldn't use Lucas if you already have a Lucia, it would be like have George & Georgia or David & Davina. It's fine IMHO to have siblings with same initial but not masculine and feminine version of same name.

I like Leo, Sebastian and Freddy from your list

Mumofgirls2017 · 01/04/2024 22:31

I’d 100% go Freddie

BridgeOverTheRiverWye · 02/04/2024 08:50

Leo - yes
Sebastian - maybe
Luca - no
Lucas - no
Raffi - no, awful
Benji - no, Ben yes
Cruz - no
Louie - no, Louis yes
Frederick (Freddy) - maybe

Nonstop24 · 02/04/2024 09:53

@Newsenmum Lucia is pronounced Lu-see-a. Dad is Argentine hence the Spanish vibe on names. We already have Valentina and Lucia but I want a the 3rd baby to have a bit more of an English name. Raffi I really like but really not keen on Rafael so that’s sort of off the list now. Cruz is a lovely name in Argentina, but here all I can think of is Beckhams! Thank you so much all of you for replying - so looks like narrowed down to Leo, Sebastian, Benji, Frederick 🙂

I think Benji needs to be a nickname for Benjamin. It's a bit too "dog name" on it's own.

Nicebloomers · 02/04/2024 11:13

Sebastian ❤️

SorcererGaheris · 02/04/2024 12:08

I think Benji is nice, but I agree that it would be better if you gave the full name of Benjamin and used Benji as a shortened form. Then when your son is older he can choose whether he still wants to primarily be called Benji, or go by Benjamin/Ben. At a certain point in his life, ‘Benji’ may seem to childlike for him. My Dad grew up being called Billy (full name William’ but when he reached his twenties, he started to go by ‘Bill’, as he thought that ‘Billy’ made him sound like a little boy.

I think Raffi is nice too.

User85468 · 02/04/2024 12:16

Also agree with the PP’s about Benji - I actually recently met a Benji in his 30’s and his name seemed a bit childlike, although I do think it is lovely for a child.

ProfessorPeppy · 02/04/2024 12:18

If your husband is Argentinian, what about Alfredo nn Freddy?

StarLight201 · 02/04/2024 16:37

I would pick Leo out of your final 4 choices. I do love Cruz for you though! I think there are enough now for it not to be immediately associated with the Beckhams.

Theoldwoman · 03/04/2024 14:38

Too similar.

i love Leo and Louis, however I wouldn’t use another L name.

Suggestions:

Callum
Benjamin
Trey
Nicholas
Thomas
Caleb
