Brother for Florence and Sebastian

Hi all!

We've just found out we've another boy on the way and I'd love your thoughts on names to go with our other kids:

Florence Cecelia
Sebastian James

Some names we quite like:
Alexander, Nathaniel, Frederick, Joshua... Possibly Hugo, Gabriel, Samuel

Previously liked Arthur but worried it's a bit too popular at the moment?

We like George but it's my FiL's name - may go with for middle name.

Henry is cute but is a family dog name!

Benjamin was sadly a late term loss for one of my SiLs which rules it out and probably also rules out Benedict which we kind of liked.

Little man is a triple rainbow for us after three losses last year so I quite like the idea of a name with a bit of deeper meaning but struggling a little..

Thoughts? ☺️

Adding Felix to your list, lovely names!

Felix, it also means happy/ fortunate so very appropriate given your circumstances :)

Crispynoodle · 01/04/2024 22:54

Alexander Jonas

SophiaRose35 · 01/04/2024 23:16

Florence is one of my fav names for a girl and me and DH have a close family friend of ours is called Sebastian "Seb" great name and his younger brother is Alexander "Alex" so I would probs pick that first. I also like Samuel that has always been on my list for both my DS

SnookyPook · 01/04/2024 23:38

Ah thanks everyone!

Lots of lovely names added to the mix for us to think about!

@Moreteaandchocolate we obviously have very similar taste!

@Namechangenamechanged ooh I do like the sound of Hugo Alexander 👍🏼

@cyclamenqueen ooh yes, Thomas and Edmund are others we had mentioned. Hmm

@Newsenmum yes, the meaning of Benedict is partly why I loved it. Good idea to contemplate it for the middle name 👍🏼

@TokyoSushi @Scrambledchickens My sister's little boy is actually Félix so that one is taken, but agree, it's a lovely meaning!

@SophiaRose35 I do love Samuel... It is one of my cousin's names but I don't think that would matter too much.

Lots of food for thought - thanks everyone!

I clicked because Alexander popped in to head as matching your SC. Alexander George is lovely.

How about Duncan? It means dark warrior. After your losses, it seems like you could be doing with a wee warrior.

TheIcecreamManCometh · 01/04/2024 23:57

Florence, Sebastian and Nathaniel was the first thing that sprang to mind, and I see that it's on your list.

So I'd call him Nathaniel Luke
xx

SnookyPook · 02/04/2024 08:24

Love that so many instinctively went with Alexander or Nathaniel! I feel like we've got a good shortlist at least. Another few months to decide 🥰

What about Gabriel Arthur? Has a lovely ring to it and incorporates two names you love.

user1492757084 · 02/04/2024 08:50

With Florence Cecelia and Sebastien James, I like...
Alexander George 10/10
Alexander Hugo 9/10
Samuel Arthur 9/10
Hugh Alexander 9/10

Loopsielou · 02/04/2024 09:03

Alistair

OliviaFlaversham · 02/04/2024 09:09

Hugo and Arthur are really common where I am. Hugo now almost feels like a lazy generic name given to any middle class boy.

Love suggestions of Thomas and Edmund. Also Alexander, Gabriel, Joseph, Christopher and Benedict.

cyclamenqueen · 01/04/2024 22:15

Marcus ?
Thomas means brother so our ds3 has it as a second name
Lucas
Julian
Edmund

Lucas, Julian and Edmund are three of my favourite names for boys, so I would certainly give a thumbs-up to all of them. Thomas and Marcus are nice too.

Out of the names the OP has already suggested, I like Alexander, Nathaniel, Joshua and Samuel the most.

I can only really suggest the names that I most favour for boys, so I’d personally add on:

Andrew (I also really like the diminutive of Andy.)
Peter
Gareth
Robin (comes from being a Bee Gees/Robin Williams fan)
Maurice (comes from being a Bee Gees fan)
Gaheris - but that may be a little too uncommon
