Baby name wobble

I called my baby Henry and he is registed his middle name is Albert I sometimes wish I picked Albert as a first name. The reason I didn't Is because originally DH didn't love it as much I did and although he said he could just get used to the name I didn't think it was fair, so before DH went to register him I said dont put Albert as a first name but now I wonder is Henry as nice as Albert?
Please kind as I do suffer from anxiety

Henry is a lovely name, and the nicer and lesser used of the two, in my opinion

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/03/2024 23:07

Personally I prefer Henry to Albert, it’s a lovely name :)

BrieHugger · 31/03/2024 23:11

Henry is nicer! Cute on a little boy, classic on a grown man, timeless.

Albert has made a come back after decades of non popularity, and I think it’ll fall out of fashion again. Plus, I’m not at all keen on Albie or Bertie.

You chose well, you both love Henry, and that is legally his name. Don’t give it another thought!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/03/2024 23:15

Personally I like Henry much more than Albert - Henry feels very classic. I’ve met Henry’s of all ages whereas I think of Albert as one of those retro hipster “Grandad” names . Plus because Henry is so much more popular than Albert and has been for a long time, Henry has many historical and pop culture associations - whereas I suspect unless they know an Albert personally most people will think of Prince Albert first.

Having said all that though, both are nice enough names, both popular enough that a lot of people like them- so if he’s still young enough not to care and it would make you happier calling him Albert then do it! ( you don’t even have to change the BC if you don’t want to - I know a few people who choose to go by their middle names).

Bigearringsbigsmile · 31/03/2024 23:17

Henry is 100000000 times nicer than Albert. Literally.

He will thank when he is older for putting it first.

Soowoo · 31/03/2024 23:18

I prefer Henry.

LauderSyme · 31/03/2024 23:21

Henry is much nicer than Albert in my opinion. Henry is stylish, self-possessed and interesting. Albert is a teensy bit wet and would get shortened to Al or Bert which aren't nice sounds. You have definitely chosen the right order!

RoseMartha · 31/03/2024 23:29

He can be known as Albert. I know several people who are called by their middle name. And only use their first name on official things.

He can also decide when he is older what he prefers.

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2024 23:56

I much prefer Henry to Albert. Lovely name.

Sundaysunshine21 · 01/04/2024 00:28

Personally much prefer Henry, would be on my list. Albert is also perfectly nice but just wouldn’t be on my list.

in my opinion you’ve chosen a really nice name, obviously names are a completely personal choice and there will be people who don’t like every name, but I’ve never met a Henry who has had any trouble with his name.

nocoolnamesleft · 01/04/2024 00:38

Both nice names. I prefer Henry. But you could always nickname him Hal, as that could be either a (known) shortening of Henry, or a combination of Henry and Albert.

TotalDramarama24 · 01/04/2024 00:52

Henry is a million times nicer than Albert.

Topseyt123 · 01/04/2024 00:55

Henry is a great name and I like it as a first name. Albert is lovely too

I think you have it just right.

BasiliskStare · 01/04/2024 01:03

I prefer Henry TBH but a very good friend of mine has gone by his middle name since he was a teenager so DS has both names and you can use whichever as @RoseMartha said.

QuillBill · 01/04/2024 10:52

Henry is lovely.

I teach six year olds and we are swimming in Albies.

KirstenBlest · 01/04/2024 11:49

Henry is miles nicer than Albert. Albie and Bertie are awful.

Edited

Exactly this.
Don't give it any more head room and just enjoy your lovely DS.

KirstenBlest · 01/04/2024 11:54

Apologies, I didn't know a quote would also be updated.

shoopshoopdedoo · 01/04/2024 14:01

Congratulations on your little boy! Henry is a gorgeous name. I much prefer it to Albert. I suspect he will grow into his name and this feeling will pass - my little boy has quite a “grown up” name and it always felt a bit odd using it when he was teeny, but now he’s a toddler I have become more used to it and it suits him perfectly.

daisypond · 01/04/2024 14:39

Henry is much nicer than Albert.

Aquamarine1029 · 01/04/2024 14:40

Henry is so, so much nicer than Albert. You made the right decision.

mathanxiety · 01/04/2024 15:38

Sometimes anxiety about a baby's name is a sign of PND.

I'd talk to your HV about this anxiety you're feeling.

SophiaRose35 · 01/04/2024 21:13

Thank you everyone for your positive feedback, I think because I was struggling between three names actually (Arthur was also on the list) and I was worried I going to pick the wrong name, but I feel I second guess things in general, however your comments has reassured me a lot :)

I think you are better with Henry than Albert, they are both very popular but Henry is more classic.

I misread this as boy’s name Womble.. so either is better than that..

Nicetobenice67 · 01/04/2024 21:20

Henry is lovely..Albert would be shortened to Bert or Bertie
