Anyone who fancies playing, would you hit me with your names (for either sex) starting with D and ending with A please? The more unusual the better.

So far I only have Demelza, Dana and Daria. Any others?

Also acceptable- ending with the a sound but not spelled with an a, for example Dáire.

are you going to tell us why?

Dana grew on me as. I loved the character on a TV program. Years ago. American, I cant remember what it was called....

I had a school friend called Dania. She was a strong, likeable character.

I like Davina (McCall) & Dara ó ' Briain

My friend is Dasha. She is originally from Russia and her name is Daria but Dasha is a common diminutive of her name. I like both of them!

pronounced ‘dah-ree-ya’ or ‘dar-ree-ya’ ?

WingSlutz · 29/03/2024 22:48

FYI Daire (with a fada on the a) isn't a name. It's Daire, or Dara.

The L Word? If so then yes, it's also crossed my mind that Dana would be a lovely (but bittersweet) namesake.

Thank you all so much for so many ideas! This is my third and final baby, no rhyme or reason to it I just got bogged down with the idea that a D name ending in A would really fit with the others and my surname. Then realised I couldn't think of many that I liked!

Dracula the clear winner so far.

Also my mum was at school with a girl named Delsia. A name I've never heard anywhere ever again but I always thought it was pretty. I guess it was made up by her parents 🤷‍♀️
