Likely shortened to Eddie.Very common surname.

Love names that end in/shorten to an ie sound that aren't super common.

Edited

We have a Teddy in our family. It's on his BC and there's consternation from some quarters (mainly his professionally-qualified grandparents) as to how it'll look on his CV.🤷‍♀️

Bil is Edward but shortened to Ed.

WhoaJayShettybambalam · 26/03/2024 14:28

I prefer Edwin nn Eddie.

Arthur nn Arty.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 26/03/2024 15:02

Edward was on my own boys list as I love that is so classic and timeless (however, what put me off was the nn Eddie🤣).

Other similar names on my list-
William (Billy?)
Thomas (Tommy?)
James ( Jamie?)
Alexander (Sandy?)
Samuel (Sammy?)
Joseph ( Joey?)
Henry
Michael

Ivee · 26/03/2024 15:04

Then you like historical royal names.

Go through the royal family tree for inspiration: William, Charlie, Georgie, Arthur (Artie), Albie, Louie etc etc

Flopsy145 · 26/03/2024 15:15

Thanks all! Had Arthur on my list but the th becomes an F in my region which annoys me 😂 and it rhymes with our DDs name. We also had Louis/Louie but dyslexic DH thought that was all too confusing 😂

My Edward was going to be Teddy but no-one used it but me, so after a week he was Eddie. He's a teenager now and is usually Ed.

rainydogday · 26/03/2024 19:51
