Thoughts on Adele? The name specifically, not the singer

Lovely name, although she might get people singing at her now and again!

It's ok. I neither like or dislike it. It's nicer than Adelaide, Adeline and Ada.

I like Adela but not Adele

Same as I like Estella but not Estelle

For some reason I think the Latin versions with an A on the end sound better in English than the French

I've never met an Adele in real life, the only one I know of is the singer so it sounds the same in my brain as calling your kid Madonna or Beyoncé. So a no from me.

It's not at all the same. Adele has been a fairly common name in the past. I have known two in my life. I have never known a Madonna or Beyonce.

I love Adele! I've loved it since I read Jane Eyre as a child, she is one of the characters. I always thought it sounded beautiful and glamorous and exotic.

I like the name, and while I think she would get comments about the singer it’s not such a unique name to be like Beyonce, Britney, Cher etc. where it would be almost certain that she was named after the celebrity.

Thanks everyone! Adele is actually my name but I've never liked it and always wondered what others thought about it! This helps a lot. It's hit and miss but not too bad - think I'll stay away from deed poll for a bit!

@FlangeBoil , I'm not keen on my name. The full name is nice but it gets mangled. I go by a diminutive but i wouldn't have chosen it.
I respond to it but if i had another name in mind I'd change it.
