Both are lovely names, Olivia just a bit too popular. My DD had 5 in her primary school class.

Daffodilsthenbluebells · 19/03/2024 15:36

Olivia is very popular but I think it’s lovely.

Emma

Both lovely, if I had to choose I'd go for Emma. But Emma Olivia together also lovely.

Honeybeebuzz · 19/03/2024 16:06

Both nice and similar - simple and common. If i had to choose id say Emma only because there are sooo many Olivia's everywhere at the moment where Emma feels more traditional and is becoming less popular

Emma, because there are bloody loads of Olivias. It’s so popular.

BoleynMemories13 · 19/03/2024 17:09

Emma.

Not because I have anything against popular names, Olivia is just one I've never taken to personally. I prefer Libby to Livvy, which I find quite awkward to say (although Liv is ok).

RuthW · 19/03/2024 18:27

Emma if I had to chose

SemperIdem · 19/03/2024 18:28

Emma.

Olivia is done to death.

SkaneTos · 19/03/2024 23:01

They are both lovely names.

Sleepnplay · 19/03/2024 23:04

Emma.

Emma.

I’ve never understood the popularity of Olivia/liv/livvy. Livvy always sounds like lippy to me.

MaloneMeadow · 20/03/2024 08:03

Emma! Far more timeless and less common. In DD’s primary school class alone there were 3 Olivias, yet only 1 Emma in the whole school

oneinamillieon · 21/03/2024 20:54

both are nice but very common names, i'd go with emma as olivia is particularly "trendy"

theduchessofspork · 21/03/2024 22:53

Emma

They are both lovely, but Olivia very overdone recently

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/03/2024 23:29

Olivia - if it wasn’t so super popular at the moment it would be on my list as imo its’s feminine, elegant and classy sounding (maybe due to the obvious Shakespearean links?).

I want to love Emma - the ancient queen, the eponymous Austen heroine etc but I can’t help feel it sounds a bit dull in comparison? If I was choosing short, simple and classic then I prefer similar Anna.
