Hi all,

I’m pregnant with my second daughter, due in a few weeks weeks and we’ve decided to name her Sunday. I’d love some nickname ideas that aren’t “Sunny”.

Middle name will be Victoria just as an FYI.

Thanks all!

People have given their "ideas" OP. You just don't like them. People are being honest about how people will respond to that name now and in the future.

I can’t tell if you are intentionally misreading my post on purpose.

I’ve not responded negatively to a single person who has given me a genuine suggestion (I’m not counting antiques road show as a genuine suggestion) so what’s to say I don’t like them.

I didn’t ask for feedback on Sunday as a name, it’s chosen, I like it.

Sunday is actually an alright name, don't make a nickname for it though

TheYearOfSmallThings · 17/03/2024 19:56

Lords.

Because Sunday is the Lord's day.

Are you having a planned caesarian on a Sunday?
I cant see how you are so sure that they will be born on a Sunday?

I personally love the name Sunday, but I didn’t use it because I’m a coward and was scared of getting negative reactions similar to the ones on this thread.

i think the shortening to ‘sunny’ from Sunday is inevitable and nothing else really comes from it.

Thunderpunt · 17/03/2024 19:59

Goodness people are weird. I know a Tuesday, what difference does it make if she's named after a day? There's plenty of of girls named May, June and April....

Because I like it….. would have thought that was obvious…

But why give her a short unusual name that you obviously like, and then invent a nick name?

Why not just call her Sunday? I quite like it, although it will be a bit weird if she isn’t born on one.

Cinai · 17/03/2024 20:00

DeeDee
But I’d just use Sunday and see what happens…I think there are no real options for a typical shortening and it might just be something that’s not connected to the name.

Thank you! I’ve resigned myself to it probably being inevitable but I’d hoped I was maybe missing something obvious that I hadn’t thought of.

Mimi. Sunday is Domenica in Latin which can be shortened to Mimi. I know two Domenicas. I knew a Sabato too, Saturday in Latin.

Justcallmebebes · 17/03/2024 20:01

You asked for a nickname for Sunday.

Roast. There you go

BigWillyLittleTodger · 17/03/2024 20:01

LadyKenya · 17/03/2024 19:27

Yes, but judging from the silly comments, posters seem unaware of that fact. Nicole Kidman named her daughter Sunday Rose.

Sunday Roast? 🤣

Validus · 17/03/2024 20:02

I rather like it.

Deedee
Sunny
Lordi (if you’re religious)
Sol
Daze
Savvie (mix the two names)
?

IggOrEgg · 17/03/2024 20:02

Deedee, or just Dee, is cute ☺️

It would be ideal if she was born on a Sunday but obviously the odds aren’t really with me on that one, and I figure that nobody really talks about what day they are born on!

Sunday is not a ridiculous name, there are loads of people named after months and seasons.

I know a woman named Tuesday and she's lovely and I've never heard anyone say anything silly or childish about her or her name.

I really can't think of a shorter version other than Sunny or Daisy but then you might as well call her Daisy.
Just call her Sunday!

RightOnTheEdge · 17/03/2024 20:08

Do you really dislike Sunny?
I think it's nice.

ManchesterBeatrice · 17/03/2024 20:09

Sunny, or daysi

Mimi. Sunday is Domenica in Latin which can be shortened to Mimi. I know two Domenicas. I knew a Sabato too, Saturday in Latin.

I think most people would think that very strange, ”my daughter is called Sunday but we are going to call her Mimi for short” most people would be 🤔

ItsVeryHyacinthBucket · 17/03/2024 20:13

Dede (deedee)
Dede (dayday)
Sisi (sissy/ ceecee)
Bun/ Bunbun/ Sunbuns/ Bunnygirl/ Bunny
Sazz/Sazzle
Monday/funday
Hun/ Honey / Hunza

Once kids are born they end up with endless riffs on their names, at least mine to. One of mine is currently answering to Mo-cho-chominator and/or Mo-Co-cho-calatayaya.

There’s no controlling it! It’s part of love!

ItsVeryHyacinthBucket · 17/03/2024 20:15

Also : the rhyme says born on a Sunday = Bonny and Blythe and good and gay, which is a great reason for naming a baby with those attributes regardless of when she was born. It’s a beautiful name.
