Would this combo just be too silly?

DH is Adam.
Granny was Evelyn.

Stuck for girls' names, but really like Eve/Eva/Evie.

Would having "Adam and Eve" just be too silly?

Well you are going to get the looks off people but if you love the names, so what.

What about Ava instead of Eva/Eve etc

belgo · 27/03/2008 08:57

yes that would be a bit silly, sorry!

berolina · 27/03/2008 08:58

yes, sorry.

EffiePerine · 27/03/2008 08:58

Why not go for Evelyn? Lovely name. Or haveit as a middle name.

fryalot · 27/03/2008 08:59

If you like the names, then that is a matter entirely for you.

However, I managed to call my two littlies names that are both musicals. I didn't even think about it, and neither did dp until someone asked us if we'd done it on purpose.

Now we are both a bit concerned about whether people think that we named our children after musical shows that we don't necessarily like. And if we have another, are we destined to name it Oklahoma?

Seriously, it does bother me a bit, so you need to think about how you will feel about strangers making assumptions about your state of mind when you named them.

fryalot · 27/03/2008 09:01

(and if I ever need to shout after them, in a park or something, I tend to use the diminutives of their names, so that I am not yelling out the names of musicals. Don't want everyone else to start with the "GREASE" "HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL" thing... it could get very embarrassing)

WanderingTrolley · 27/03/2008 09:01

No, not silly.

Your dd will not be tied to her dad's first name forever - if you like Eve/Eva/Evie then go for it. You can make a joke of it yourself, if you like.

Don't miss out on a name you love - you'll regret it later and who cares what other people think? You could use it as a middle name if you feel v strongly about it.

conniedescending · 27/03/2008 09:01

Think Adam and Eve is bit silly in a sib-set but fine if Adam is husbands name. Eve is lovely!

I read the OP wrong - I thought ds was Adam.

If it's DH, then that changes everything - it really doesn't matter what his name is.

Go ahead and call her Eve if you like.

(Annie and Oliver )

fryalot · 27/03/2008 09:04

(Annie after dp's mum. Oliver because it was the only boys name that neither of us hated)

agree entirely with wandering trolley

if you love it use it

Meandmyjoe · 27/03/2008 09:07

Not silly at all. I mean, you'll call dh Daddy in front of her anyway I pressume so it won't be an issue. I love the name Evie. If you like it, call her what you want- not what other people think. It's not something sh'll get bullied or anything like that for as school frieds as she grows up won't know her dad's name so what does it matter?! It's a lovely name.

MrsBadger · 27/03/2008 09:09

oh squonk you made me smile - I immediately assumed your children were called Phantom and Miss Saigon...

MrsBadger · 27/03/2008 09:10

(and you can have Joseph and Evita if you did want to carry on the theme...)

fryalot · 27/03/2008 09:15

Phantom.... that would be a good name for number 4

hmmm.......

ninja · 27/03/2008 10:48

I like Eve - and how often would you be saying your husband's and dd's name together? Just sign YOUR name in the middle on Christmas cards!!

TwoFirTreesToday · 27/03/2008 15:03

Wouldnt worry me Cain is nice too, if its a boy

Disenchanted · 27/03/2008 15:05

If your DHs name is Adam and you have a boy you should call him Addison.

It means 'son of Adam'

PotPourri · 27/03/2008 15:07

sorry, does sound a bit silly. But hey, if you like the names, why not??

Cheekster · 27/03/2008 16:50

I love the name Evie. Thats would this one would have been called if it had been a girl.

If you had a son called Adam then yes - it may have been a little silly but with it being your DH I dont see it being a problem at all!

Go for it I say if you really like it!

sweetkitty · 27/03/2008 16:52

I agree brother and sister would have been a bit but Dad and daughter fine.

purpleflower · 27/03/2008 16:54

I've been thinking about this, my DS is Adam and I really like Evie. I really don't think I could do it to them though. If it was DP called Adam then I definately would call my little girl Evie, it's a lovely name.
