DH and I struggle to agree on names but we've come up with a few we both like.

What do you think? Any other suggestions? We already have 2 DC with quite traditional names so would like to stay with that vibe.

Girls:
Madeleine
Maeva

Boys:
Innes
Lachlan
Charlie

Love Madeleine! Not a fan of Maeva but really like Maeve

Ines seems quite girly to me - I know quite a few but none of them are boys
Don’t like Lachlan, it has a very harsh sound
Charlie is nice

Great choices! My personal favourites from your lists are Madeleine and Charlie. I like Maeva and Lachlan too, especially if you’re looking for less commonly used names? I don’t know anyone called Innes - I do like it but did need to check how to pronounce it, so that’s worth considering (depending on where you live / how commonly used it is near you).

Love all of them apart from Maeva. Are you pronouncing Lachlan the correct way though? Wink

mammaofmany · 11/03/2024 19:04

Thanks for the feedback so far. I understand the pronunciation concerns with Lachlan/Innes but they aren't unusual names where we live. And yes, definitely pronouncing the correct way Grin

Ines is a girls name - I think it's Spanish? Pronounced differently to the Gaelic name Innes which is traditionally a boys name but also sometimes used for girls.

I like Madeleine but not Maddy

How about Marianne?

Don’t like Maeva

Maybe Maria, Miranda, Marina, Victoria (Vita), Vivia, Vivienne, Alba, Stella, Cora, Oona, Honor

Love Innes and Lachlan - also like Struan, Lorne, Alistair

Charlie is way overdone - maybe Robert nn Robbie/Bobby if you want something v classic but not all over the place

mathanxiety · 13/03/2024 02:50

Love Madeleine and Maeva.

From your boy list, I like Lachlann and Charlie.

17caterpillars1mouse · 14/03/2024 09:47

Girls:
Madeleine - I think it's a beautiful classical name with a vintage sophisticated feel. I also love Madeline as it reminds me of the books and 1990s film which I loved.

Maeva - I like Maeve, prefer Mavis but Maeva just looks a bit of a miss mash. I'm not sure it has the traditional feel you are looking for.

Have you considered Rosalin / Rosalind nn Rosa. It seems like it would suit your style.

Boys:
Innes - I like it but would very much assume you are Scottish. You may well be. Its something to consider if your not.

Lachlan - nice enough. I know one, goes by Lockie. It's a nice name

Charlie - feels very 10 years ago to me, the 'in' name before Archie and Alfie exploded everywhere. Its a nice name but feels a little dated already
