First off this isn't about who gets to keep their surname, neither of us really care.
DP and I are expecting our first baby, neither of us are emotionally attached to our surname and have decided to just pick one and go with that. We actually both prefer the others surname. The names are Brazier and Parry. We don't really want to hyphenate.
We've decided we will now just go with what sounds best with our names and future kids names. This may be identifying but I'm ok with that - in fact if you know us in real life send us a text with your opinion 🤣

So what is better Parry or Brazier

Our first names are Kate and Michael, if baby is a girl she will be called Anna a boy will me Thomas. Other names we might used in the future are Emily, Sophie, James and Harry.

TIA x

Don't go with Parry if you want to use Harry . . .

That's a really good point ... how on earth did we fail to see that.
In fairness harry is pretty new to the list!

Brazier gets my vote. Higher on every register. Better of the two surnames

Birmingbacon · 10/03/2024 05:49

I vote Brazier

Autienotnaughtie · 10/03/2024 05:50

I think Braizer is nicer.

MariaVT65 · 10/03/2024 05:52

I like Parry personally, but maybe because of Jeff/Bobby Brazier.

Harry Parry 😂

Lumiodes · 10/03/2024 06:18

Brazier is the better name of the two and will get them further in life.

Summerscoming23 · 10/03/2024 06:21

Brazier goes better with your names. Dying to know now who is who?

Haha, well in a shattering loss for feminism, I'm Parry and DP is Brazier. Even when the man is willing to give up his name it is still cooler - men!! (All jokes of course we don't care either way!).

I prefer Brazier (assuming it’s said bray-zier, not brassiere!)

heldinadream · 10/03/2024 06:33

As long as Harry Parry doesn't marry Carrie and then Carrie give birth to Larry you're cool.
I actually prefer Parry! With all the names you've mentioned.
Except Harry! 😂

cerebuswannabe · 10/03/2024 06:35

Another for Brazier.

CurlewKate · 10/03/2024 06:42

Hyphenate. They sound good together.

HuntingoftheSnark · 10/03/2024 07:28

I prefer Parry with all the names you've mentioned aside from Harry. It's softer and easier to say. I know a Brazier and it doesn't roll off the tongue easily and sounds, well, a bit brazen.

flutterby1 · 10/03/2024 08:01

Brazier is posher, sounds stronger.

IHateWasps · 10/03/2024 08:03

I much prefer Parry. Brazier has an harsh and unpleasant sound imo.

IHateWasps · 10/03/2024 08:04

Brazier is the better name of the two and will get them further in life.

How?

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/03/2024 08:07

Or do what my PIL did when they named DH. Use one of the surnames as a forename.

I remember reading somewhere that people with names nearer to the top of the alphabet have better outcomes on average. Probably something to do with getting more first goes..

rong · 10/03/2024 10:09

I know someone called brazier and she hates it because people always say brassiere

ConfessionsOfAMumDramaQueen · 10/03/2024 10:11

We double barreled without the hyphen. First of the last names gets mistaken for a middle name so usually last one used which is fine, but they're both there! First last name can also be used as a first name so that probably also encouraged that a bit 😂

MiltonNorthern · 10/03/2024 10:13

I prefer Parry!

Rosiiee · 10/03/2024 10:14

I also prefer Parry. Brazier just seems like the kind of last name you’ll be spelling all your life or correcting pronunciation.

EmeraldArtichoke · 10/03/2024 10:17

Combine the two and create a new name for you all. Barry!

Lifeinlists · 10/03/2024 10:17

Parry.
Much more distinguished.
Famous musician - wrote the tune for 'Jerusalem'.

Brazier's a fire you stand around.
