Does it work? Do you like it?

Which one is better for a boy? Riley, Henry, Jasper, Fredrick, Greyson, Grayson, Felix, Caspar, Oliver or Elliot?

I find all names OK. I like Riley, Oliver and Elliot, but Felix and Caspar are fine too.

Geebray · 02/03/2024 13:02

These days I think of Riley as a girl's name.

Of the others you list, I like Felix best.

BaronessBomburst · 02/03/2024 13:05

I like Felix and Elliot best.
Riley is a unisex name, but I associate it more as a boy's name.

BCBird · 02/03/2024 13:07

Elliott

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 02/03/2024 13:08

Riley is my (male) dog’s name so I obviously like it but I don’t think I would have used it for a child. I prefer more classic names for children. I like Henry and Oliver from your list.

lioneggs · 02/03/2024 13:08

Really dislike Riley.
Love Felix, Fredrick, Grayson and Elliot, jasper and Caspar.

Oliver's boring but miles better than Riley. Henry is sweet

TenThousandSpoons · 02/03/2024 13:50

Riley is my least favourite from your list. It has a very different feel from all the others, especially Felix and Caspar.
My favourites are Henry and Oliver.

theduchessofspork · 02/03/2024 14:13

No, has a Ryan vibe which I don’t think will be helpful to him

Any of the others are nice other than Grayson which is odd.

I like Caspar best

Legoninjago1 · 02/03/2024 14:24

Rilley's a surname so I wouldn't pick it. Love Caspar. Elliot next.

FayCarew · 02/03/2024 15:15

Good: Henry, Oliver,
OK: Frederic, Jasper, Felix, Caspar, Elliott (last two have multiple spellings)
Bin: Riley, Greyson, Grayson. they're surnames

Onelife2024 · 02/03/2024 17:02

I quite like Riley - it’s not to my usual taste and I would wonder if it was a girl or a boy if I heard it, but I don’t dislike it.

Frederick and Henry are my favourites from your list - fantastic names!

Jasper and Elliott are my next favourites - and they are a nice combination of familiar but not overused.

Caspar and Felix are good names, I just can’t help hearing ghost and cat when I hear them - but I know that would quickly pass after initially meeting someone with either name.

Oliver is great but very overused at the moment, especially when you add in the boys whose name is Olly / Ollie on the birth certificate.

Grayson / Greyson is a bit too surnamey for my personal taste but I do like it better than most names of that style.

Seashor · 02/03/2024 21:17

Riley is the Gary of it’s time and dreadful.

Sleepnplay · 02/03/2024 23:23

Not keen on Riley at all either. From your list, the only one I really love is Elliot, its fab. I also quite like Caspar. The rest aren't my taste.

Springdeclutter · 02/03/2024 23:44

Disney made Riley a girls name in Inside Out and it really isn’t a girls name. I probably wouldn’t choose it for another
5-10 years but it’s definitely more boy than girl.

user1492757084 · 03/03/2024 07:36

All fine but I don't like Fredrick, Grayson and Greyson.

RuthW · 03/03/2024 10:33

All of the suggested names are much nicer than Riley.

Dmsandfloatydress · 03/03/2024 10:45

Riley is a very down market 00s name. Dated and dreadful to begin with. Jasper, casper Felix , Elliott and Henry are all lovely. Avoid surnames as first names. We are not in America.
