Lilah or Delilah. Which do you prefer as a full name? Thanks

I think Lilah is nicer because better associations. The song Delilah is about a man who kills his wife. And Delilah in the bible is the one who betrays Samson by cutting off his hair.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 27/02/2024 18:33

Delilah.

Onelife2024 · 27/02/2024 18:36

Lilah definitely. Delilah makes me sing the Tom Jones song in my head. Lilah is beautiful imo.

DramaAlpaca · 27/02/2024 18:39

Delilah. Then you get the option of both because you can use Lilah as a diminutive. I think Lilah on its own looks incomplete.

salamithumbs · 27/02/2024 18:42

I prefer just Lilah, I agree with pp it has nicer associations and anyway i prefer the sound of it

Nicebloomers · 27/02/2024 19:20

Delilah nn Lilah. The best of both worlds.

KirstenBlest · 27/02/2024 19:30

Neither. Delilah has bad associations and Lilah disappears into the Lily, Lola, Lyra, Layla type names.

Busted2006 · 27/02/2024 20:30

I couldn’t use Delilah because of the negative associations, I like Lilah

YourLocal · 27/02/2024 20:42

LILAHH!! Never have liked Delilah it’s one of those names to me that a kid would chose more also not a fan of any names really beginning with D except Daisy

SkaneTos · 27/02/2024 23:00

They are both beautiful names.
The name Lilah makes me think of the character Lila Fowler in the book series "Sweet Valley High".
I know a very nice lady with the name Delilah, so the name reminds me of her.
It also makes me think of the 2006 hit song "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T's.

BrightHarvestMoon · 27/02/2024 23:00

Lilah for sure. Smile

MovingBird123 · 28/02/2024 10:04

I don't like the associations of Delilah, but few things touch me like the way Samson says her name in the opera here: (at about 6 min), so as a result I love the sound of the name.

Samson et Dalila: “Mon cœur s’ouvre à ta voix”

Anita Rachvelishvili sings Dalila's Act II aria. Production: Darko Tresnjak. Conductor: Sir Mark Elder. 2018–19 season.

Tom Jones has done for Delilah for at least a few decades...........

Luddite26 · 28/02/2024 10:11

I'm an oasis fan so Lilah for me and can't stand the song Delilah for what it's worth.
Have known a Lilah always sounded a nice name.

Ems1992 · 28/02/2024 10:12

My daughter is Delilah (aged 6) never had any negative connotations towards her and I think it’s very much a generational thing.
We have had many compliments about her name in fact… I highly doubt future generations would associate her with a biblical prostitute.

kirinm · 28/02/2024 12:15

I have a Delilah. She often gets called Lilah- because it was how toddlers pronounced her name at nursery etc. I've not had one person comment on the evil connotations 🙄

There are quite a few Lilah's around now.

shoopshoopdedoo · 28/02/2024 20:14

Lilah

Snowdays23 · 16/03/2024 21:28

I have a 9yr old Delilah, never had any negative comments apart from a few silly people singing the songs and she tells them she doesnt like the songs but she loves her name and the fact she doesnt know anyone else with her name!

Bey · 16/03/2024 21:58

I've loved the name Delilah since I saw the plain white ts perform hey there Delilah.

I hate when people say about the Tom jones association, people have always got something negative to say about names.

if you use Delilah you could always use lilah as a nn.

AnaMaeve · 16/03/2024 22:09

Delilah - gorgeous name.

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 16/03/2024 22:19

Lilah but I prefer the spelling Lila.

KalaMush · 16/03/2024 22:21

Lilah but I would spell it Lila.

peaceinourtime · 18/03/2024 14:56

Delilah
