I really love this and it is my top contender for DS due imminently however DP really dislikes it and says it is feminine.

I love the nicknames Frank and Fran

what is your honest opinion of it?

I like it a lot personally.

I’m biased as it was my Dad’s name so have a very soft spot for Francis.
He was always called either Frank or Frankie.

I like it with Frank or Frankie for short. I see Fran as feminine personally.

I love it and slightly regret not using it.

It’s ok but if the father of the child/your partner hates it you should rethink.

I think it depends if you've met a Frances (female) or Francis (male) in your life and know the spellings are different. It's a bit like Lesley/Leslie.

It’s a family name for me but I hate it. (The bearer of the name doesn’t care for it either and goes by something else.) It’s such an awful wet name and the nicknames are even worse. Frank has to be one of the ugliest names ever.

I like Francis but the only one I know is nicknamed Fanny 😬

It makes me think of Baby/Frances in Dirty Dancing. But I think if I knew a male Francis it would seem normal quickly.

I like it. I don’t think it’s feminine, because the spelling clearly denotes it as masculine (I like Frances for a girl too) - Pope Francis, Black Francis/Frank Black of the Pixies, Francis Ford Coppola, Francis Bacon, none of them are particularly feminine 🤷‍♀️

It's a great name.

I think Francis looks nicer on paper, but not as nice to say aloud, sorry. Also, you need DP to have an input and like the name.

I'm not a fan sorry. I think your son would end up hating his name by the time he was in secondary school

I like it, I did have a huge crush on Fran(cis) Healy in the early Travis days though....

I think it's a fabulous, classic and classy name; evocative of art, travel, religion, history, music...

It was also my DGF's name. And DFIL was Ferenc which is the Hungarian version. And DDs middle name is Frances. 😊
